We haven't done it this year but two years ago from Newark, VT (just south of Island Pond)to Rangely, ME it was 150 miles, via Pittsburgh, NH- great ride- easily one day ride, wide trails, must have NH reg, be sure to gas up in Pittsburgh. (75 miles Newark to Pitts and then 75 on) can get gas (if they have it) at Bosebuck camp past Pittsburg but pretty $. We went on to Greenville from there and it was another 150. Rangeley Lake was poorly marked so be sure to have a map to navigate the lake. We really enjoyed the ride. weeza rockernana.gif

Set out to leave from East Burke towards Eustis Maine Dec 28th, but one of the sled's in our group broke down 8 miles into the trip!!! Oh well could have been worse, could have been in the middle of NH! Maybe we'll try later this year weather permitting-- supposed to be nice ride though

Saw a picture of a suspension bridge just over the NH line in Maine that broke a cable and was impassible. Some where east of Errol on the corridor trail. You might want to check with MSA, Maine Snowmobile Association in Augusta for an update.

Done it several times planning on it 1-29 but waiting on weather you get gas in Canaan VT before crossing to NH/ME you can buy your ME at bosebuck camps bosebuck.com easy ride from Derby VT 155 miles during the week great trails. I know a couple guys that do it in 1 day Derby to Rangeley and back.

grin.png That sounds like a great ride. Would love to know more, and once in Rangley, are there many places to stay, and should you make reservations before hand? Roundtrip wouldn't be bad either, but if the trails suck, the body needs a break. Did 280 roundtrip last week and needed a doctor. Mid week ride sounds good though. Would love trail route from Newark to Rangley. Thanks in advance.

We did make reservations in advance- can't remember the name but it was a hotel/motel and we kept our sleds outside our room as we stayed in the motel side. There are a lot of places so I doubt finding a place would be too bad. I found the info on the Maine site. If you have the time head up to Greenville area as well- SWEET! weeza

boogieboy.gif Thanks Weeza, do you have the trail #'s that you would take, and does NH and Maine reciprocate, or do you have to register in both? Don't have a trail map on me. Would love anymore info you could send my way. Thanks

NH & ME require registrations

We either stay a saddleback motor inn or Rangeley Lake house both good and both have places to eat and bars
