If you want a fast xlt, get a 93 or 94. 95 and 96 had crank issues, and were by no means fast.

I beg to differ....the 95's didn't have the crank oiling problem....it was the 96 and 97.....put on a set of pipes and it goes preaty good up to about 80 or so the extra 12 suspention slows it down on the top end but if you're trail riding you can't really go that fast anyways....

You are correct sir, brain fade. As long as the RPMS dont get too high, you could pipe em. Some of those cranks just weren't made to turn that high Rpm. I"d look for an ultra before an xlt.

Yes. Plus would reduce engagement rpm to around 5000 for trail.

XCR stands for Cross Country Racer. Yes. It's not a "big bump" machine like newer sleds, but NONE of them will stay with it in the corners. This is the sled type that often runs and wins the Soo 500 oval races.

Not certain without looking inside my enclosed trailer, but, I believe around 3000 miles. Excellent condition. One original owner for 12 years before selling it. Chassis is blueprinted for "improved stock" racing.

Thanks bud.............i really take pride in a clean, well maintained sled.......i just wish i could afford a new one i could do more standing on. I feel alot more in control on my buddies dragon, which is a very fun sled. Till then, i will keep this one as new, and enjoy the odd ride here and there on it. I'm as meticulous as they come...lol.

I had a 95 XLT SP also, I bought it with 2500 miles on it, it had a set of SLP pipes, and clutch kit done to it, along with a gutted airbox. I sold the sled with close to 6000 miles on it. Never did I have any issuses with the sled. The guy that bought it from me, last I heard from him, he has close to 9500 miles with no problems yet. He said he is waiting for something to go wrong before he does anything to the motor. Most of the guys I know with the 95 xlt didnt have any problems with the motor. I guess sometimes its just luck
