My buddy is putting a 1.25" Ripsaw on his viper and was wondering if you have to remove the protector strips on the front heat exchanger. He heard yes, SnowTech says no.
jr_amsoil
no.

My 04 Viper S came with a 1.25" ripsaw right out of the box. I was told DO NOT go any larger or even stud for that matter or you will run into heat exchanger issues. Awsome track as long as you stay out of the deeper powder.

04 Viper S came from the factory with a Ripsaw 1.25" track - there are no tunnel protectors or heat exchanger protectors installed in them.

If you have the tunnel protectors they WILL rip lugs off and the track will rub the front heat exchanger protectors if you have them installed.

You hear people running them both ways though.

Sure, if you are running 8 tooth drivers or have majorly notched the track. Otherwise, no way. I have a 1" on mine and it rubbed the protectors until I trimmed it.

To answer the original question, he will have to remove the protectors or switch to 8 tooth drivers.

My drivers are 8 tooth tho so i guess switch to 8 tooth drivers or take the protectors off

I had extended my Viper to a 136", and I removed my tunnell protectors. And now, I have a 2" paddle track, with extroverts. No problems.
