Does anyone have any suggestions on where to ride in Wyoming that has lodging and a place to rent a sled? I want to do some boondocking along with some trail riding! How many miles of groomed trails are there?
Thanks

well, it's really not wyoming, but i would recommend staying in cooke city, mt and riding down at top of the world (which is actually in wyoming), there's really good boondocking around there. but then again, those are the only places out west i've ever ridden, so, that's just m2c.gif beer_cheers.gif

Try Bear lodge in the bighorns.

http://www.bearlodgeresort.com/

I've been there a couple times. Easy to get to, gas, sleds, rooms.

Cooke is a little extreem for a first time out. Cooke is mostly backcountry riding.

The horns have a lot more trails (if need be) plus more open areas to play in.

I've been to cooke, the sierra madre's, and the big horns. To me the horns is a easier start. don't get me wrong cooke is great, great people, service ect.. but if you go you'll need to drive all the way around through yellowstone to get there. most people bring sleds and drive the 10 miles from the 212 parking lot.

good luck, you have fun regardless of which you pick.

Being from the Big Horns I have seen many people have the time of there life there. You have your choice of what type of riding you want to do. Ride from your door, they rent Polaris at Bear Lodge. Be careful, make sure you have some safety gear!!!!

There are two places that should offer some awesome trails and powder pound boondocking, http://www.tetonvalleyadventures.com/,
http://www.togwoteelodge.com/, formerly known as Cowboy village at togwotee, there are some awesome places to go and ride and some great trails. They are groomed pretty regularly but like all trails, will get your braking bumps and such. You can get guided tours which will take you through anything you want to know. Hire a guide for a day, then enjoy exploring areas by yourself. Just don't get lost and watch out for avalanche area's. I worked at Togwotee at the end of 02 and beginning of 03. Lots of powder, lot's of fun. Don't go into the wilderness area's and you will be fine. Try the backside of Mount Lighty, thats a fun area. If you get a guide, go for Jeremiah(Skinner) Bell if he's still there, or"Bob", they are both excelent riders and know lots of fun places to get you into. Have fun.
