My daughter was riding the sled on Saturday and it ran fine. She tried climbing up our steep sledding hill, didn't make it and slid down backards with the throttle on (I'm assuming) and th engine died. It took a number of pulls to get it going and felt harder to pull over than normal. It would run but needed throttle to idle and would not spin the track and just die. I can't get the track to turn by hand or even with a pry bar. The chain is super tight but I can't see anything lodged in either the track or sprockets.

The brake band around the clutch drum is loose, could the clutch be bound up some how? That's my guess judging by how hard it is to pull the motor over. I'm going to remove the drive chain and then I'm guessing the clutch can be removed? I noticed the clutch bolt has a zerk fitting, I didn't even know it existed so it has not been greased for the 1.5 years we've had it and I bought it used.

Any thoughts?

yup, check the chain, my bet it is either broke or stuck somewhere in there.

Yep, the chain turned out to be the problem. It was bound up where I couldn't see it. nice, easy fix. Now I have to fix the broken muffler bolt I discovered.
