hey guys, we just got back from malone race. my little girl ran at the back of the pack this weekend for two reasons 1. she is very small and has a happy to be alive and out there attitude. (which i am alright with) 2. the sled was slower than the others. so i took a tie rap and tie rapped the spring tight and it didnt make much of a difference. on sunday while talking with other parents a guy told me it works but i need a return spring run over to my exhaust guard so he put one on. well she was actually slower and at times would stop. come to find out she could hardly push the throttle it was so stiff and the sled wouldnt idle. i took the spring that he put on off and it runs fine. anyhow getting to my point. for me to buy the mod will cost me more in duty fees and shipping than the kit. my buddy just took his governor spring off and put a paper clip in and has worked fine for two years. what is the two zip ties for that comes in the kit?

Here are some pictures of one of the old governor springs we now have the the Rec motors springs. This week I am removing the governor gears in both sleds as they are starting to make noise and I do not want an engine failure at the next race. As far as the slower sled there are a ton of things you can do check some of the other threads in this section for tips.
Are you planning on going to Essex Jctn VT?
If so we will be there and if you want I will help you get the sled ready as best as possible. If you are going to PitX some of the parents you can trust for good info are Team O'Neil #504, Livingston #569, Spiller #567, Kratz racing and Bruce the Tech Check guy.

If you have any other questions I can try to help as best I can.
Good luck.
Jay
Running the Recmotor spring also.

Shawn, I have been told that the governor gear is a ticking time bomb........I need to remove mine also.......do you know if I need to pull the motor?

I believe so, can't see any other way to do it. My plan is to take lots of photo's for our tips page.

My guess is that you are talking about a Polaris 120, right ? If you get a heavy wire you can remove the spring and place the wire in place of it. This will override the gov and let the sled rev up. It will be harder for her to squeeze the throttle because no the gov is working against the throttle instead of the spring. You really need to remove the gear to make it easier for them to run it.

ALSO, I ma sure you have a tether hooked up...... Unhook the wires to the throttle and the kill switch. There are a set of pins n the throttle block that will kill the engine if the RPM's are too high. Just unhook the connection and the jerky engine running will clear up. I have done this on both my girls sleds and they run great!!

Good luck and let me know if you need anything else. I can post some pics if you need thumbsup.png
