Noticed my temps seem to be on the high side. While going slow or idling too long my temps go up to 180+ and have a hard time getting them down. Rode groomed trails all day in low 30 deg outside temps, plenty of snow to cool it. If I got up to 50mph it would drop to the 160's but I still think that is too warm. Read something about the polaris CFI pulling timing and adding fuel over 150deg and dont want that! Sled has 300 miles on it.

Could I have air in the cooling system? Do these sleds have t-stats? Any other ideas? Its been running warm since i got it. Never went over 195 though, but i bet it would have if i let it idle longer or didnt speed up

There could be air in the system. Maybe someone can refresh my memory on how to bleed the system. They do have T-stats. I never had a problem with temps on mine, even in above freezing temps, but that was in GOOD snow conditions.

My 2005 900 runs hot too. Check your PM's.

And I panic when it hits 150.

I have had mine to 190 (no higher) a bunch of times. Even a bunch yesterday.

Yesterday was warm, trails where very hard (ie:snow would not throw up from track much), and I was driving slower due to my wife following. Each time I'd reach 180 (sometimes 190) I would just move quickly over 1ft off groomed part and blip throttle in the powder. Temp would come down. Even better, if entered field or opening, would move barely off groomed section into powder and ride 20-30ft and temp would come right down to 150.

Day before, was colder and trails where softer. I also rode faster and temps did not go over 135.

====================

If you are on a known trail where there will be no chance to grab fresh snow off to the side once in a while, open access door for radiator cleanout just a little bit...like halfway. Make sure not to fully open where it will melt to exhaust pipe. This also helps.

As always, get your sled over fresh snow as soon as possible when temp get's up there.

Mine does the exact same thing in warmer conditions, I stop and pack snow on the running boards and the temp drops 30 degrees instantly. On smooth trails it stays until it melts and then creeps up unless I can move along at 40 - 50 so the radiator does its job. I don't know how the others who removed the radiator get away without running hot.

Pretty normal, when you hit 200+, then you have a issue.
Mild Thunder
yea, coolant level is full, no bubbling, boiling, or fluctuations there, so maybe I just need to keep it rolling faster getting some air to that radiator. anyone try that water wetter?
