I have shredded my track on my 96 ZRT 600, looking for info for new track, Can I take out my studs and reuse? Will an unstudded track last longer? Pros and cons? Also took off stock muffler expecting stingers from e-bay to show, well no show, rode around the field with just open pipes, no muffler, do I have to have a muffler? Or can I just run it loud as f^^K? Will no muffler hurt the motor?

if you run a studed track you run the risk of tearing the track or stud out if you have lots of track spin, like getting on the throttle, because all the stud needs to do is find something solid to catch on, yeah studs r good for safety on ice keeps the ass planted, but if you do run studs make sure you have tunnel protectors in because if you bottom out alot you can turn the tunnel into confetti with the studs, personally i don't run studs because i do very little ice or hard pack driving, pluss my brother ruined his track on his zrt 800 because he was always on the throttle, and he hooked up on something and tore the stud out and put a nice rip in the track. far as running with out exhaust well hear is what i have to say, i have a good friend who works at an arcticat shop and we were talking about my sled that i had a small exhaust leak comming from between the pipe and the motor, what my problem was that them springs that hold the pipe on were sreatched out so i put new springs on and fixed the leak, my friend said it's not good on the motor to not have a good seal on that (something to do with the heat you need and back pressure, pluss you are sucking fumes back into the motor, which i would say is not good).. plus another thing i learned from him is that where your exhaust exit's make sure the pipe is not pinched shut from hitting rocks and just debri. because he had a sled that happened too and he cooked the same piston 3 times till he finally found out it was restricted exhaust.... hope this information helps any body....

I would not run any sled without studs, let alone a 120plus hp one. Do not run the sled with open pipes too much, not at all in the cold weather. I was toying with the idea of running a 1" track on my 96 tcat with 1.075 studs for better trail traction, but I think I'm going to stick with the .075 lug with 1" studs. I would Run a front heat exchanger protector if you do not have one on it already. Royal distributing is clearing out their stock of the older ones and has them on sale for $19.95 canadian. at royaldistributing.com you can order online. Go to the clearance section.
