i bought a 2008 venture mp and everythings perfect except for a screeching noise towards the front of the sled.it doesnt sound like the belt, clutch or engine brake. it happens when your just cruising at about 40 to 50 km/h. the dealer said they never had that problem with a sled before but said to bring it down and they`ll take a look a it.just wondering if anyone knows what this problem is and if you know how to fix it. please help me!!!

my 06 Venture has a screech as well just as I'm slowing down and grabbing a little brake. I think it's the brake disk wearing in, as it's pretty much gone now after 250 miles.

Let us know what you find out please.

The problem i am having only happens when i am driving along letting the sled increase and decrease in speed alittle while staying around a constant speed. so braking is not involved.I do appricate any coments thanks.

have you tried "riding" the brake a little bit

to see if the noise changes

my 2nd guess would be...chain tension
3rd guess....check the tension on the reverse
mechanism... maybe the shift fork isn't "floating"

ride it with your helmet off and see if you can pinpoint the noise area

interested in your situation, hope you find it

check the chain tension. Mine was quite loose from the dealer. Noticed quite a bit of play in the drive when slowing down, heard a slap. It's easy to check, read the manual.

On mine, the dealer may have forgotten to set it after they did the jackshaft recall...

still have not got an answer for the noise coming from my mp.Seems to be making the noise at lower speeds around 25-35 km,The noise almost sounds like a kettle boiling whistle.I still cant pin point sound other than to say itsaround the engine and clutch area. The noise happens when just keeping steady throtle. Now if you listen closely you can also here a tick tick sound at the same time .Last night i noticed i can start up the sound easyer if i turn the sled to the right putting more weight towards the clutch side. This is very frustrating i have 800 km on this new sled and right from first ride the noise hs been there. The dealer said he did something to correct it ????? but still the same, they say to bring it to the shop when the is more snow in town.I liive only 5 km from them you think the could take it for aride. Please if anyone can help figure this problem out i would be very gratefull.

Since the beginning of feb I got my sled into the dealer about the noise problem.they tried cleaning the front clutch that made no differance, next time in they said it may be the belt touching gard at times so they added a spacer in driven to take out some belt deflection still no differance,I knew that would not work because i tried the sled with all that off and noise was there. On the 15 of feb i drove sled to dealer they tried it and heard the noise to.They since have told me the motor mounts were alittle loose they tightened them and told me to try that. Idont think thats the noise.I know these 4-strokes make some weird noisesbut this is not suposed to be these.Just to up date this noise problem. The noise is not there when the sled is at idle.you can start the sled and let it warm up for 15 mins no noise. Also starting off no noise, you have to actually drive the sled 6 or 7 miles before the noise starts up then as long as you are driving/ moving the noise will be there .Usually between 20 and 50 kms .also myself and dealer noticed at those speeds with little strain on the noise is worse if you turn to the right putting more weight on left.If you let off on throtle or give lots of throtle no noise. The noise is almost like the screeching of a kettle.once the noise startsup it will stay untill you slow down or stop.If you stop and let the sled idle for 5 minutes you have to drive it again for a couple of miles again for the noise to start up.I wish someone could help me with this problem. This is a 2008 venture mp I have about 1000 kms on this sled and the niose was there from the first ride. Its not stoping me from riding but its anoying ,not right and not suposed to be there.I personally have a gut feeling it may be in the motor/seems only after you warm up the dirve train something expands and the noise starts.Any coments welcome.

seems like i may have found the problem. After months and months of going to the dealer with no fix in site, myself and a friend decided to strip all the plastic off the front of the sled[so the sound would be easyer to hear] and tie up the track off the ground.first we took the belt off the sled tried running it like that but we got a code that the track sensor wasen't regestering any speed. so We put the belt back on then ran the sled 4 or 5 kms with the track turning untill the sound started. The second time doing this we had a stesascope with a long probe on it [mechs use the to listen to engine sounds] and when the screaching started we checked around and the sound seemed to be comig from the jack shaft bearing. When loosining the bolts on the housing which holds the bearing in place seems the bearing poped out a little,we proceeded to remove bearing and on inspection the bearing seemed fine not rough and lots of grease. We then put the old bearing back on in place making sure there was no side load on the bearing and last tightened the set screws . Put all parts back on and tried the sled the sound was gone.Seems there must of been a side load on the bearing when installed from the factory. We i spoke to the daeler mech he was in agreement that the bearing would make a noies after awhile with a side load. He also agreed that if the bearing was not installed corectly it could have a side load and make a noise.i wander how long before the daeler would have solved the the problem .In allmost 2 and a half months they tried belt deflection, bet gaurd vibration, dirty clutch, loose engine mts and belt to soft making noises. It truely was a hard one to find but ony because of myself and a good friend of minds determination to find the problem i wander how far and long this would have went.If any one has expierenced a similar problem of the this nature let me know about it . thanks again FRANCIS

Not bashing, but complaining. My 05 RS Venture clutch rattle I had to fix myself also, after the update noise came back in less than 10 miles, I used some plastic washers on the 3 primary weight arm bolts. After many dealers telling me it's normal.
Well after dealer telling me track noise was normal and adding extra wheels and track noise still awful. I almost bought updated rails, wheels, etc. almost $2,000. in parts. But the more I read 06-08's where still noisy. Some others where adding track clips, etc. I gave up and sold it. The whole reason of buying a 4 stroke 2 up was for it
to be quiet. Sorry for the hijack and rant.
On another note the 09 RS Venture GT looks awesome! I am glad I am hurting for $, as I won't buy a first year snowmobile ever again. Well if I had the $ I guess I would.
