Having problems with my 98 7oo XC, my son went riding last week and the sled just quit. He said it back fired before stopping. Figured it was a fuel problem (ICE) put it in the garage next morning half the tank of gas was on the floor. Pulled the carbs, the floats appeared to be working fine, held pressure when turned up side down and used a pump to check them. found that the crank was full of fuel to the point that it filled the pipe. Emptied fuel. Next check the pump, held pressure when check on impulse line, rebuilt pump since it was already out. Check the impulse line no hold pressure no leaks. Changed fuel filter. Put it all back together and still nothing. Pulled the fuel lines, HOW much fuel should come out of them when the sled is pulled over? Is there any thing else I can check that might be give me this problem. Crank has not filled back up, but didn't have the fuel on for long either, didn't want another mes to clean up. Thanks for the help!!!!!!

Check float pins for wear in the pin towers.Very common problem on these sleds and at the age they're getting I think just about all of them are going to have problems. The pins from a 2000xc7 are knurled on the ends so if yours aren's worn too bad get these ones.

on my 98 rmk I had repeated piloit jets getting pluged and after the third time or so in 500 miles I found the lines to be coming apart I replaced the lines and the filter. I have also seen the pickup in the tank come apart look in the tank with an led pen light just to make sure the line didnt break off above the screen (I have seen theis several times on sleds where seafoam was used in place of sta-bil) It sounds like you got a chunk of poo in th eflaots and whan you checked them it came out.

This season on my 00' 700 the water traps on the bottom of the carbs started to deteriorate. I replaced both of them. If fuel is pouring out then you have a needle/seat issue.
