I AM DEBATING RUNNING A PORTED TRACK ON A 2006 IQ 440/800 CONVERSION WITH 121 TRACK FOR DITCHBANGING. WILL I TEAR THIS TRACK APART IN POOR MINNESOTA SNOW CONDITIONS WITH A 800 PSI MOD MOTOR. WOULD IT BE TOO MUCH TORQUE AND TRACKSION FOR THE TRACK TO WITHSTAND. I AM THINKING OF TAKING ABOUT A ONE INCH TO 1 3/8 HOLE DOWN THE CENTER BELT OF TRACK BETWEEN LUGS. I WILL CUT 2-3 HOLES PER CENTER BELT. DID RESEARCH AND THIS APPEARS TO BE THE NORM FOR MOUNTAIN SLEDS. MAYBE SHOULD RUN SMALLER HOLES AND LESS OF THEM TO WITH STAND FLAT LAND RIDING ABUSE TO TRACK??? P.S IT IS STOCK SNOWCROSS TRACK IF THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN DURABILITY. THANKFUL FOR ANY INPUT.

Part of the reason to port the track is to get all the powder out of the skid to keep the sled lighter, Here in minn, you might want to keep that snow in your track for lube. Just a thought. Craig

YEAH THAT THOUGHT CROSSED MY MIND ABOUT DUMPING POWDER FROM MOUNTAINS OUT THE PORTED TRACK. I THOUGHT MAYBE I SHOULD NOT PORT TRACK TO KEEP IT TOUGHER. KEEP THE LITTLE SNOW IN TUNNEL ON COOLERS AND ON HYFAX LONGER ETC. HOWEVER I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SHAVE THE WEIGHT! JUST EXPLORING BOTH SIDES OF THE FENCE.

for flatlands run 1 hole every other lug down the middle in front of the lug. anymore than that grabs sticks and stuff and will rip your track apart. as for too much power thats not the case, alot of mountain guys have a ton more power than that on ported tracks. lots of guys running boost, 910's, 1150's all over 200 HP. but you will notice if you dont have extros it will ratchet much easier if its ported. my feeling on this is that the center belt stretchs more than the two outside belts.

SO IF I WERE TO PORT TRACK IT HAS A BETTER CHANCE OF RATCHETING OR LESS OF A CHANCE OF RACHETING? I GOT IDEA FROM THOSE MOUNTAIN SLEDS YOU SPOKE OF AND THAT'S WHY I HAD TO ASK BECAUSE THEY ARE MOUNTAIN SLEDS AND FLATLAND OFFERS MORE ABUSE SO HAD TO CHECK TO SEE OTHERS THOUGHTS. JUST WANTED A CONFIRMATION ON THE SUBJECT. I THINK I WILL LEAVE IT ALONE BECAUSE I SHOPPED FOR A FLATLAND TRACK WITH PORTS AND COULD NOT FIND ONE SO I THINK THERE MUST BE MULTIPLE REASONS FOR THAT. THANKS FOR INPUT

Don't port your track for MN riding, i was out yesterday, i knew there was barely enough to lube the hifax, but wife wanted to ride bad, burned up some hyfax that is forsure!!!! Also with 800 you want all the track you can, if you are worried about weight, remove the stock front suspension, with a kit and that will save you lots not to mention a better ride!

HOW MANY HOLES PER BELT AND HOW BIG DID YOU GO ON HOLE SIZE? DID YOU USE A HOLE SAW AND DID YOU CODERIZE HOLES? IS THERE A NEED TO CODERIZE HOLE? WHAT ARE SNOW CONDITIONS LIKE WHERE YOU RIDE? THANKS

2- 1 1/4 holes per belt, hole saw yes, burned edges of holes with a torch, around home here we ride mainly on stone walls open creek beds and down trees.
