Looking to swap out my pro-action skid in my viper for a m-10 or an edge skid. Wondering what you Polaris guys think since the polaris comes with both? Mostly trail ride but like pound the rough stuff. Whats your opinions? Thanks.

If your not looking for ride quality my first choice is Pro x then EDGE skid with a clicker rear shock then M-10.

If ride quality is the most important thing your looking to gain M-10 is king once its set up for your weight.

On a side bar I have a prox skid thats a spare that I would be willing to sell , its 100% compleat with mounting hardware. Pm me if your intersted.

x2. A M10 set up correctly is plush, except for an occasional spine crusher. Problem is, they can't take the repeated abuse of pounding moguls on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, you can do it, just plan on replacing parts on a regular basis. The Pro-x skid will hold up much better to constant abuse but you sacrifice a bit in plushness.

Realizing that there are exceptions to every rule and based on my riding experience on Michigan trails with heavy traffi,c this would be my best guess of the appropriate suspension

Teens & 20's - Pro-X
Early 30's - Pro-X & Hot Tub
Late 30's - Pro-X & Ibuprofen or a M-10
40's - Pro-X with Ibuprofen & Vicodin or a M-10 & Ibuprofen
50's - Pro- X with assorted meds or M-10 with a few less meds
60's & beyond - Hopefully you're retired and can ride mid-week when trails are not beat. You know, the kind of conditions that would be fun on an old bogie wheel Elan or Moto-ski

That's a good way to put it, lots of vicoden, maybe back surgery needed in the real bad trails, LOL.
FYI, my wife never notices any thing as far as adjustments to a sleds ride or handling, I bought an M-10 sled for me to ride after having back surgery. She rode it 1 day and I never got it back, it's hers now. It is day and night differance as far as comfort on a rough trail. One drawback is the set-up for rider wt is critical, and a pain in the ars to change without electtric "ACE" or manual "JACK" option on it.

From a performance sled standpoint, get the Polaris suspension. Edge, ProX, Iq, whatever. Make your best deal. They can generally be purchased reasonable, and parts are cheap and easy to come by if you manage to break one. Watch the shock package you're getting to determine value. If you're looking for a trail sofa, and willing to pay the performance penalties to get the cush, I can't think of a better way of doing it than with an M-10

Whats the better shock package to get and can you explain the ride comfort level on each package?? thanks.

The IQ and Edge both come with more trail friendly shocks. Clickers on either will be worth/demand a premium price. The Pro X has come both ways, but is generally calibrated somewhere between aggressive and race, and clickers are pretty much the norm. Suggest you stop in at the ProX forum and do a search on some of them for specifics. To go into detail on each would take a book.
