Hey all,

Planning my first venture into VT over the next few days. I picked up an older ('06-'07) essex cty trailmap (all i could find)...there are 3 spots labeled "trail head" on the map, in a red box. there is no legend saying what a 'trail head' is. any ideas what this is? there are only 3 trailhead lables i can see on map; 1 by maidstone, 1 up in brunswick, and another a little north of brunswick. anyone know what this means?

I'm also looking for parking spots - i'm familiar with the maidstone loake area ; rumor has it there is a parking lot at the mouth of maidstone lake. any other thoughts / suggestions? i'll be trailering in from lancaster.

thanks everyone...let it snow (please!)

Easiest place for you to park is take your 1st rh turn off Maidstone Lake rd 2 miles up. That puts youn right on Pauls Stream rd you can ride north or south from there you should be good from there.

Connecticut Valley Sno-Riders maintained trailheads are the ones you are referencing. There are two on the way into Maidstone Lake. One is a right onto the Paul Stream Road at Browns Mill. The second is just up the Lake Road on the right at a sand pit. Both provide direct access to the 98 Trail. A third is in Brunswick just off VT Hwy 102 at the Dennis Pond Road entrance (F98 to 98) on the left heading north. A fourth is at Stone Dam (railroad tracks) off VT Hwy 105 on the 102 Trail near the entrance to the Sylvio Conte Wildlife Refuge. All are plowed and provide room for parking with trailers.

You are welcome. Now have about 3" of powder snow and the groomers have or are working the trails both sides of VT Hwy 105 today.
