I have been getting various trail reports from locals in the NEK,all are consistent with the loss of a 1ft snow from the rain. The weekend after X-mas is usually busy on the trails. At this point are the trails decent for riding and will the weekend traffic totally crush the trails. No snow on the immediate horizon so I guess it's not looking to good.Any thoughts, insight, etc.?

Im guessing that the traffic will be relatively heavy, and that could be good AND bad,..the main trails will be OK with this,..the sharpies and water holes will expand into an eighth mile of snirt with all the traffic. I wouldnt want to be riding in Burke this week or weekend,... Im heading up thursday or friday I think, Im going to wait till my laptop is fixed, and I will stay at my place till Jan 12th or so, so You will be able to get up to date reports from the NEK. I plan on doing some trail work up there, filling in water bars with brush, and clearing any trees that blew down in the wind storm. I expect conditions will get much better by Jan 2-3, and beyond IF the longrange weather models are worth anything right now...

Your exactly correct about the Burke area, definitly early season conditions down there. Rode 160 mile loop Saturday from 105 Derby area over towards Cannon, down to Bloomfield, 102 to Granby, trials were mint, the pipeline was ok, Burke has open water bars more than I expected, just take it slow around there, 114 up through Island pond to 111 back to Holland all were in very good condition. Very little traffic, hardley anyone on the trails.

Talking with some friends today (Christmas) from Morrisville they went out this morning and said the trails were bumby, but very ridable. Again no tracks.

Thats it....Merry Christmas to all

Well, our drag is sitting out in Morgan, BY ITSELF... groomers broke for the 4th time.... Hopefully we can fix it tomorrow and get it back out on the trails... Ill update later.

Thank you guys! Good info.Like many others I'm thinking of making the trek to the NEK this weekend.I appreciate the daily feedback from the lucky guys who can ride from their doorstep, sometimes snowphone etc. can be deceiving.....GaderX keep up with good trail reports but you may have to start a daily Snowdrifter trail report on HCS Vt forum!l...perhaps like that Zenwaiter guy from Quebec and have video reports....lol.

Just got back from doing the Holland Loop and the trails are not too bad for the most part. Quite a bit of water around Holland Pond but not unmanigable. Lots of good stretches with some low snow parts but all in all its better than sitting on the couch!

Thats an understatement.... at least the holes arent deep... did you see our drag sitting on the side of the trail?

rog its about time to upgrade and split up the routes double em up... get a pistin bully it seems like the trails are 10 times harder, yours just kinda fluffs em up and leaves them nice for the first 8 sleds... brightons seems to pack the shit outa them... heavier machine maybe bigger/ heavier mogel masters?.... along with canaans end of 105 now that the new holland tractors down thier trails seem to be holding up better and be much harder.... rougher ride in the bully they say.... what broke this time?

Just got back from the NEK. Trails were great before Sunday. Now they are hard and there's some ice and open water, but still very good for December. No problem once you get a few miles out of town. Don't hesitatate to go up. You never know what'll happen next week. The weather is screwy anymore.

Thats too bad Gader, from what I've been hearing your not the only club around with alot of groomer breakdowns. I blame the operators HA only kidding.... If I can be of any help please feel free to give me a call, even if you just need hot coffee and a place to warm up.

I drove by Cooks the other day and really like the way those Tuckers look. Wonder if they'd let you borrow one for a week or so?

Good luck
Don

What do you have for a power unit?

Looking to help here ---no bashing!

I can appreciate what it is like to have snow and a broken groomer.

For some reason, that snow depth map is never accurate in my opinion....
BT PRO - is it usually pretty close where you live on the map??

Ours would pack hard if we had a chance to pack them. We had no problem with our grooming schedule last year. We'll catch up to the rest of them..

Thank You.

Yes they would rent them for a hefty price, but the other operators, hate to run them.

Bombardier BR 180 now made by Prinoth. Service has been great. We have had to change both final drives and both hydraulic pumps... yes.... russian_roulette.gif
