I just rode from Hinesburg towards Huntington and was planning to ride to Waitsfield, but when I got to Huntington there was a trail closed sign. It was right at the trailer park when you first come out of the woods. Does anyone know why this is closed or if there is a way around it?
Thanks,
Mike

Hey Frieghtrain how was the ride? The trails good to point you had to stop? How many miles did you ride?

The ride was great. Of course that was before all this rain. Thursday I rode from Hinesburg to Huntington and it was near perfect. Friday I rode from Hinesburg to Essex and it wasn't quite as nice but was definitely worth playing hookey from work. There were some open water bars, but nothing worth stopping for. I rode past Simon's in Essex and followed 7 for another 7-10 miles and headed back for gas. I'd say I covered about 75-100 miles over the two days.

I spoke to my neighbor who is a groomer and he said that there is development in Huntington where they haven't gotten all permissions. They had it last year b/c they only had to deal with the developer. Now they have 5 landowners to deal with. He said one guy said no and then said he didn't want to be the only one saying no, so he should be ok. The trail should be open by Wednesday he said.

Trail in question is at the end of Hollow Road and Huntington Road (Main Street). Trail will be open with conditions:

CURFEW - TRAIL CLOSED 7PM to 8AM.

SPEED LIMIT - 25mph - Family Neighborhood with children.

Only other option is 2 miles of paved road.

Re-route will be investigated for next year.

Consider this a VERY SENSITIVE AREA - ANY VIOLATION WILL CLOSE THE TRAIL.

It's all up to us to obey the conditions mandated by the landowners or loose the trail.
