With the amount of snow on the ground, I dont think this rain will be crippling... If there were only 8 inches on the ground it'd be a different story. It'll really help firm up and pack things down and then with the cold weather coming afterwards it should get pretty solid.

From what I've gathered from all the different weather sources,it IS going to rain on sunday,BUT....it may be just a light drizzel as of now....
I'm not worried at all,as whatever little rain we have on sunday is going to do nothing but HELP build/harden our base . A little rain o top od all this wonderful snow.....who could ask for anything better to build a base on !!! Just think, openning day, till closing day, wouldnt that be great ??!! A good base is needed for such a thing to happen, and I think we are on our way.............

I was out from 7 until around 9:30 this morning (my first time ever on the trails) but I only saw 5 other people, I think we are going to go riding Monday if you want to go... but I have to warn you I'm a rookie and I usually go pretty slow.

Sunday Night: Periods of rain showers before 1am, then snow showers likely. Low around 27. Breezy, with a south wind 26 to 29 mph becoming southwest 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
1 inch of rain would be bad. Hopefully some will be snow.

THe NOAA site says less than 1/2 " for central VT tommrow. I was out tonight, we coulduse a little moisture, the snow is getting blown off the trail in the corners. Forecast looks pretty pathetic all next week, highs in the mid thirties and a chance of mixed precip next Saturday.

Lets just hope that people are smart enough to stay off the trails today! The trails will be destroyed if they don't. Remember we have the whole winter ahead of us and we have been fortunate to be able to have such great riding this early in the season.
THINK SNOW!!!!

Well we didn't seem to get much rain last night, although it did slicken up the roads at about 2:00am. This would be a good base to groom, and some nice fresh snow on top would make it mint.

Forget the rain, we have a high wind warning for gusts of 50 - 70 mph. We need to worry about blowdowns now.

Just looked at the Weatherchannel radar, and if we get what New York is getting, kiss the snow goodbye. It's supposed to be above freezing during the daytime for the whole week.
It's early, so we can still have a great season, even with a thaw.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

because of all this rain. Major washouts and waterbars everywhere now.

the problem is first off people riding in the mush making slush and turning into runoff and first off we didnt have a great freeze before all this snow so the waterbars were already starting to open up yesterday and the rain is going to do more damage then we would have seen if we just had a solid frost or less snow for us to turn some off the wet areas up just a bit and freeze em up... hope for the best... and it could be a positive effect if they suddenly say its going to be 0 for the next 3 weeks with snow on the second week... seen it many times before we'll survive just spread the word to be nice to them when its about freezing!

The weather shows under freezing for the rest of the week with snow showers throughout the week so hopefully it'll be ridable still. Me and the wife are headed to Lyndonville Wed-Fri staying at the Lynburke Lodge, I hope it's still nice as it's our 1st trip up north.

Damage assesment is right. I think there will be a ton of open water on the trails. This might take 2 weeks with some new snow to get back to decent shape.

This is only gona compact the snow and harden it up. Temps over the next few days will tell. Any snow on top of this will make it sweet!

I just got back from Bolton (in my car), the fields in Richmond etc. showed a lot of frozen water. Its snowing here now at my house in S. Burlington. Not sure about the north or northeastern regions, anybody??? It looked like some of the cars up at elevations saw the rain turn snow overnight sometime but Robs webcam tells a story. The snow ruler was pegged a couple of days ago, with the settling and rain it looks like fifteen inches dissappeared in around 24 hours. Hopefully this sets up the trail??
