Hey guy's. Looks like my wish that northern Indaina got more snow than the central part did. I hope you are getting in some riding. I was wondering now that most of the the trails are open here in our beloved Hoosierland. Are they being groomed? I got a snow itch again! I'm especially interested in riding the Buffalo Run or Salamony trails or even Miami (but heard on the hotline that Miami is not open yet). Anyone know what's being groomed?

Thanks and safe riding everyone!

I just rode Salamonie when we had the last snowfall. I think about a week and a half ago. That is definitely my favorite Indiana trail. I don't believe that any of the Indiana trails are groomed. At least not Salamonie. Buffalo run maybe, but I don't think so.

I see that you are in Zionsville. Shoot me a PM if you want to go riding at Salamonie on the next snowfall. Me and another friend usually hit it when it is open.

Actually, several, if not all, Indiana trails have groomers. We usually only have enough snow to groom in late January to early February.

In South Bend, we have an antique Tucker Sno-Cat. Not sure on the make of our drag, but it's pretty standard equipment. Does a good job.

oops. My mistake. I have never seen a groomer at Salamonie in my years of sledding there. It may be too small and constrained to groom anyway. It does not have much traffic there so grooming isn't really necessary.

Thanks for the reply guy's!

Tony,
I have a question for you. If there is snow and the trails are open. When do the groomers decide to start grooming?

Thanks!

Paul,
I have been told that Salamonie does have an old groomer but is broken down now. You live in Indy? Cool! Go COLTS! I'd love to go riding with you and your friend. I have a buddy that would want to go too. I'm not on our computer that much so a PM might be ineffective for us to communicate. My cell # is 317-710-4396 and is the best way to get a hold of me. I do check email more than the Internet so you can contact me via email too at: icebox9@worldnet.att.net. Hope we can hook up and ride! Call me or give me your #/email address and I'll get in touch with you.

Safe riding sled freaks!

Depends on what kind of snow falls and the forecast. As we all know, 12" inches of light lake efffect snow won't pack very well. But 12" of system snow would be good for grooming. Also, if the snow looks like it's only going to last for a day or so there won't be any grooming.

Wayne did groom last night with the hope that a solid base might make it through the projected rain. We are supposed to get more snow next weekend. Plus, I've measured over 20" of snow in the last couple days!!! So, if anything survives we might be back in business sooner than later.

Gotch ya! Thanks for the reply and I'll keep my fingers crossed that being back in business comes sooner than later too. Hopefully see you tomorrow.

Safe riding!
