We got some fresh snow on top of the older snow we had so I took the boys out to break in the new 120. Of course as soon as we call it a day and head inside, we just get HAMMERED with snow. 9-10" of fresh on top of the 5-6" we had when they rode it. So, I guess that calls for another ride this week.

The sled was about as fast as I had with the old Kitty Cat, so now time to bypass the govn., and add the wheel kit to the back. I wasn't sure how quick it would be so I let my kids try it out at stock speeds first. The Rec Motor Sports adjustable main jet sure did help tune it as well. I'm glad that's on there.

Here are some pics of the first ride.

Very cool good way to double check as our old kitty was the same speed also. but good to get them use to it. My son also tore up the yard today, I'll post some photos and my a little video!

Hey Nick,
Should I be trailering south and bring the sleds down when I head that way for Christmas..?? LOL
That 2-up touring 120 is a stitch.. grinning-smiley-023.gif Great pic

Hey Nick did you also put a Tiny Tach? I have not done the carb thing yet but right it does about 5800 rpm and I was told with the carb drilled out we should see close to 7100-7200 rpm!

Here is the video! I bet this looks like your little guy also today!

I am sorry to say we do have more snow than you guys. We have well over a foot now since the Saturday Storm. These pics posted are BEFORE the 8" of fresh we got on top of that! Our trails opened on Saturday and I heard they are in very solid shape with hopefully more to come this weekend. It's off to good start and looks to be getting better. grin.png

No, I haven't added the tach. I don't even want to guess on RPM's cause I'm a terrible guesser. The adjustable jet is supposed to affect the WOT RPM's. I didn't even mess with it really. I need to add the 4 wheel kit and bypass the govn. I just wanted them to get the feel for it first. I should bump it this week for them. grinning-smiley-023.gif

I can tell you from your video you that your '05 is much quicker than my setup. That's forsure!

Boy, it's sure QUIET compared to the Kitty. :-O

Wait until you do the gov spring it will get louder but sounds cool now. That is all I have done so far besides a little gearing. Jet I should do during the holidays.

And Yes Charlie is a great guy I have bought from him.

Thanks guys! I will check him out. What do you guys use for chain lube? I saw that Rec Motorsports recommends that Energy Release Product. Also, do you recommend upgrading the stock chain if he is not gonna race this year? I will probably do the chain tensioner soon.

Use PJ1 black label chain lube and I like it alot, it sticks well and seems to last a long time on the chain. If your going to get a chain tensioner you might as well get the 35 chain and all the other goodies, clutch and suick chainge sprocket, you know your going to get them in the long run anyways. My 8yr old daughter does 14.8mph on gps with a governor spring, main jet, power intake, race clutch with 15/55 gearing, I am going to 58 rear as I want a little more low end. There is no better feeling than having your daughter/son pick up on a sport that you like, I love riding next to my daughter and seeing how happy she is to be riding with her dad, thats priceless.

Yes, get a new chain. My son wasted his stock chain and gears so bad, I had to replace the sprockets and chain. Also, the stock tensioner is crap as everyone will tell you. Either upgrade the tensioner, or at least for now, run a cable tie through the spring to keep the most tension on it.

I have done the governer bypass, intake stack, adjustable jet, etc on my sons and it rips now. Does about 14-15 MPH with stock gears. I will be changing the gears this year to get it to 20+ MPH.

Later Man.

That video had the stock gearing, with intake, adjustable jet and governor spring. I have another set of gears for it, but cannot remember what they are.
