There is no question, the T-Cat was the fastest production sled ever built!!!

In a short drag race, lots of sleds can beat a T-Cat, but for top end?? Nothing but tail-light!!

out of box stock the race will be pretty close depending on conditions, driver wieghts, tracks, studs and all that jazz. once any amount of prep work or tuning goes on its the t cat all the way.

JUST RUN THEM. I BEAT THEM CONSISTENTLY WITH MY ZRT800, WHICH ISN'T A MATCH FOR MY T-CAT. SNOGOER MAY HAVE COMPARED THEM 8 YEARS AGO IF YOU WANT MORE "FACTS" BUT THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T SINCE IT WOULDN'T BE A FAIR MATCH GIVEN THE ZRT800 WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE APPROPRIATE FOR A COMPARISON.

Must have a mod zrt8 to beat xcr8. They are about the same horsepower but the xcr8 is a bit lighter or your racing junk xcrs. everyother forum i read the xcr8 give a tcat a good race but i guess this will be a never ending argue with all do respect

Just race a couple, I've beat some and lost to some with my XCR800, depends on many things and what's been done, no one really tells the truth what's been done to their sleds, my triple 1214 CC XC Edge has 600 deacals on it, looks and sounds quite stock, guys just look at it fly by and think, "what just happened"

Why own a triple if you dont wann tweak it a bit?
Most of the stock xcr800's I have seen were tubs. But after a bit of clutching and pipes! I love all the BS speculation! Line em up and run them. Then there is no more questions!

The Edge is back together last spring already, only drove it a few times since, seems ok, still have to check the crank indexing. What I raced you with was the lake racer in the XCR chassis, not the Edge.

For sure it will be never ending, I have had many cats from from a 84 eltigre 6000 a 500 twin that ate many polaris at the drags that were 600 or bigger and no one beleived it was stock but that pour sled had been tourn down so many times and my other cats over the years , my sleds seem to go better than most stock or even improved sleds and it's all set up I've seen many thundercats that just didn't go, but when they are rite they fly even in 500 feet in the grass,Ihave a 99 thundercat that I trail and drag on ice and grass, the ole girl has seen 133 M.P.H. on radar plus on some good days, I have A POLARIS 800 xcr rider that has tryed everything to beat the T-cat but just didn't happen ,I let him try mine one day on the ice and he was in shock with a big smile, he never new how hard the T-cat can pull, so I know with my experiance that the T-cat will win if running like it suppose to, no bashing intended

With real world tuning done....on both and there is no stock for stock left(both discontinued)and the fact that the weight is very close on the two sleds and horsepower is not, chances are Tcat wins. But always ecceptions to the general will turn up.

First of all 99 Thunders t-cat flat trucks and yes it has near 10000 miles. XCR.... same all all these sleds... I've raced some that I flat killed with tripple mach's and ZRT's. Give one to someone who really knows what they are doing and they truck. I raced hillbilly grass years ago on my mach Z and it was fast. I went to another field and raced a guy that had an XCR that raced in sanctioned stock class grass races. He killed my my 6 lenghts in 500 feet, about the same distance I could beat other XCRs...Thunder, you running anywhere on the ice yet??? We had a great spot until the snow yesterday.. Looks like we'll be snowblowing tonight or tomorow.

Hmmm, I weighed WKW on HCS 2001 ZRT 800 with a 1004 bigbore last Winter , I'll have to ask him, but I believe it was under 600 Lbs. I own a set of Intercomp Nascar scales, 4 pad, I haven't even weighed my stock XCR 800, maybe I'll do it today, My bigbore XCR which has been lightened a lot, weighs 573, and the triple bigbore XC weighs 604. It been posted the stock 2000-2003 XCR 800 weighs 623 wet, Polaris claimed it was 555 dry. I just weighed 2008 Skidoo 800R with 132 studs, it was 503 wet, 1/2 tank of gas, 2006 Apex 96 studs 1/2 tank gas, 658, 2006 Phazer 96 studs 1/2 gas, 566.

My 1993 t-cat with 1/2 tank of fuel no studs was 590 LBS. I have not weighed my 2000 T-cat. The XCR 800 will be similar to the T-cat in weight.

There is a 03 plus at my buddy's shop and maybe we can weigh that tonight. I'll bet its close to the ZRT. Ski Doo has come along ways.

And Yamaha claimed the SRX was 535 dry. And the RX-1 (RX-Ton) was within 10% of the SRX:D
I only know that my 00 XCR is painfully heavy to get unstuck...
As for fast T-Cats, around here the 98's kicked ass,the later years did not. And a lot of the T-Cat owners around here were clueless and seemed to think "I've already bought the biggest baddest sled available to man..etc.."

I've seen some t-cat fly and some are just slow any year. Same with any sled I suppose. The thing is with these older sleds is that by now alot that are fast are really modded out. Guys could not tell the difference of my Hooper 1050 or the stock motor kept it a secret for along time. Looked stock with stock pipes 210+hp. when I go to the lake and a guy is running an old tripple I pay attention.... you never know and they are pretty easy to make real fast and look like a sleeper

I am curious what a true STOCK 98 T-Cat will do against the new Iron (Mach 1000, and F1000, APEX ETC) ......so I bought a low mile -1 owner 98 T-Cat last week. The only mod on this sled will be clutching / a 1" predator track / LINE UP everything 100% / and a aftermarket windsheild LOL. It will be set up and clutched this week......and looking forward to see what it will do. After owning a heavy moded T-Cat in the past......I plan on leaving this sled stock....restoring it to original condition. I think its a good investment....to restore it ....instead of mod it. Its like the 70 Cuda of muscle sleds! Stock ones are becoming harder to find. I had to drive to Michigan to get this one. LOL.
I owned a 99 trail pump gas t-cat that was moded (Pipes / reeds / D7D airbox / timing key / 96 ignition / cut heads / bored carbs etc LOL) ....and it would run consistent 120-124 mph in a measured 2000 feet. I remember 1 day a friend who owns a 98 T-Cat....that I know for a fact was STOCK but clutched properly showed up to run 2000 feet. I ran 123.7 ....he ran 121.8 mph. I think set up properly / clutched / engine aligned / suspension set up proper / and good traction......the stockers are generally under-rated. We will see.......

lol yeah maybe. i am trying to make friend with the cat guys so the harrasment will stop. they get sick and tired of hearing about 800 xcr doing 116 mph in 1000' and they cant get there beloved f-1000 to do anything close to that unless they mod the hell out of it.
at the speed runs I see the 800 triple class at 114-116 mph and the stock t cats running 118-120 mph in 1000' and the mach z's and f cats around 110-115 mph. out on the lake i dont have much real world experience in racing.

at the speed runs when i was stock and it was amature against amature i could give the t cats a run for there money. a well setup t cat will run 128-130 mph in 1000' day in and out. thats a tough one to beat.

Thanks. The sled I have now is a 98 T-Cat I just picked up last week. I needed a "beater" sled just to get into the cottage so I was looking for something simple. I ended up with a super clean 98 T-Cat. I had it out a few times and it got me motivated again. LOL. I decided I am going to keep it for good....completely restore it in the spring (to better than new)....and set it up as best I can in stock form. I think in 5 more years they will be rare / hard to find in stock form, so it will be a nice piece to have in the garage.
Thats it for now anyway.

Hi I have only run against by buddies 02 mach-z (which is about the same as a xcr 800 I think) with my 01 T-cat. Both sleds have goodwin clutch kits and studs other than that all stock and his sled was close to about 60-70mph and then I just left him behind. We did this a few times through out the season and same results every time-rolling starts and from stopped starts. Hopefully by next season some of my other friends can get off work and come up with there sleds to see what will happen-one xcr 800 and a few apexs in that group. Before I got my T-cat I had run against my buddies xcr 800 with my srx 700 before it got long tracked and that was a pretty close race-went either way depending on conditions and hole shot.

Buddy of mine Bought a F7. Nice sled! But he wanted to line up against my 01' T-cat. Needles to say he had a chance until I hit 70 and next thing you know the T-cat Just Grows Legs and you're over a Hundred like nothing! He rode it at the radar runs and couldn't Believe the Power! Any way. The World Record on 1000' of ice for "Stock" Class is Held By a 1998 Thundercat @ 120.8 Mph. Bone Stock Sled!
