hey everyone..i am pretty new to snowmobiling and i am already having trouble w/ my polaris indy 400. (88`). it kept on bogging down so my friend said that i should clean the carbs. he came over and took off the airbox and sprayed carb/clutch cleaner into the carb openings and told me to rev it while he did this....it seemed to run ok for a couple of days...but i just tried to start it and it wouldnt come close to turning over.did he do this wrong? i checked the plugs and they were all fouled up so i cleaned them...tried again and it still wouldnt work, they would come out dirty every time. i think what he did may have messed the sled up more and made the carbs worse....any suggestions would be highly appreciated. thanks

To clean the carbs, you need to remove them, and take them apart, cleaning all the small orifices with carb cleaner, and also the jets with carb cleaner, running a small piece of copper wire through them. If they are discolored white or green, replace them. Also look at the float pin and arm for wear, dished out shiny spots. Look at the float valves for rough spots/ridge on the part which comes out of the valve. You may need to rebuild the fuel pump, and replace the fuel pump impulse line.
