Put on close to 150 miles since wednesday.
Trails are fair and holding up much better than expected. That base must really be frozen in and should stick around a long time. I thought after the bright sun and mild temps mid week they would be in trouble and they are not.
Most trails are groomed, even the 400 trail is in great shape.
Only issue is when they route you along a road, they have much of the snow scraped back off the shoulder and the warm temps did a number on that and cleaned it right up.
Not putting new carbides on just yet

if anyone is up this way drop me a line and we can meet up.

Went out today.....left from Necedah (home town) went towards the lake trails, then headed to New Lisbon and back toward Necedah on the Eagle's Nest trail. Trails were "FAIR" I would say. Considering the mild temps and the sun.....they are holding up great, but could use some snow to fill in the bumps and smooth everything out. Overall, good shape for this year.
Will be riding next weekend in the area Kevin. Maybe we could hook up and grab lunch or something. Been towards Elroy on the bike trail this season?

Yes we went from Mauston, to LaValle early in the morning. Then up the bike trail into Camp Douglas and stopped at Bluff restaurant. Went from there to home, usually its a swing through the lake bars but the wife wasnt feeling very good so it cut us short. We usually take the lake route home and it puts us right at our house.....
Im sure I will be out somewhere this weekend. I have no plans and am undecided. Hopefully we get a little more snow.

I will be heading down to Adams/Friendship on Sat. for Xmas with my wifes family. My wife usually dumps me somewhere on the way so I can ride the rest of the way to her Mom and Dad's. Would you suggest something off 21 or should we go to Mauston and catch the trail along 82. In the past I have always crossed Castle Rock by getting on by the dam on the south end and riding to Carlson's and catching the trail east to Adams. Is it safe this year? I have an 800 Renegade so a little slush does not bother me a bit. If I go down 82 can I just cross on the bridge and catch the trail by the Corner Pump on 82 and 13? Thanks for your help. By the way do you race? Your name sounds familiar.

I wouldnt be crossing castle rock yet thats for sure.
As for riding across the wisconsin, that is ONE long bridge and wouldnt suggest it without any snow on the shoulders.
I would suggest dropping off on 21 and riding south, would be your best bet. We lost a good deal of snow today but the trails near the house appear to be unphazed. I think they were set it pretty good.
Give me a call if you need any more inof I will put it in the PM.
Yes I drag race all across the midwest...or did. Havent done much for a few years.

I honestly think they will be alright. I just got home and from what I seen (I have trails all around my house) they appear pretty good. I know they groomed last night, and they appear to still have all of their base yet.
I dont exactly know what my plans are for the long weekend, but wife wants to put some miles on her Apex LTX this weekend.
If anyone is in the area shoot me a PM we will see what happens. However she isnt the fastest rider in teh bunch, so dont want to hold you up.

Guys...they are looking pretty rough. I think in the woods would be alright yet, but really wondering about the fields, even with the little sun that was on them.
Anywhere that crosses the roads or with black dirt underneath is really showing through.

I'm planning on going to Spring Green next Friday, hopefully not to much snow will be lost before it starts snowing tonight. The forecast is calling for 5-8 inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow

And a 30% chance of light snow Wed., Thurs., and Friday.

Just went for a rip.... it got warm and sunny today, upper 30s but everything is holding up awesome. I think the lack of traffic today was the key. The snow was light and powder so maybe this will help it set up some.

Without a doubt...they are excellent and I got about 150 miles on the trails to and from the lake.
I wouldnt trust that lake yet though...
PM me when you come up, ACEXCR will be up this way as well. Im guessing he is staying with his buddy near Necedah

Photobucket not working right so dont have any more pics to s how...
Trails are beat up! But in a good way, they are all huge moguls and will kill you. I say in a good way because I dont remember ever having this much snow, to have moguls this big. Clubs are working hard to stay up on them but the amount of sleds around here lately is crazy. People are travelling here to ride and really liking it.
AceXCR and his boy were up this way all weekend and we put them through the paces.
Wife has had her Apex for 2 weeks and we havent put it inthe trailer yet and already has over 500 miles on it.

So Kevin,
Great pictures, but how does the Thundercat and xcr800 run with that Apex?!?!
Kevin Garceau
Jan 8 2008, 08:59 PM
The XCR never ran with me.... I dont know if he was afraid or what, but he was always way behind.

That T cat beat up on my Apex (not in the pics) however it has a ton of work done too it, lighter, and tuned by Jeff Simmons on their dyno....however out of the hole I was all over it, but it definatly has longer legs than mine.
Now the wifes Apex on the lake is a bit faster than my RTX because of the different gearing and of course she weighs half of what I do. But she has never had the flipper to the bar yet
I just drove through Sauk, it was raining there, trails here are gone. Poured for two days straight.
