Me and a buddy from work hit the highway this morning at 5:30 am was unloading behind the Gulf gas station at around 8:00. My favorite parking spot up the road a few miles wasn't plowed out so we had to unload in town. The Clubhouse wasn't even plowed out.

The -5 degree temperature made for a chilly morning but we were having too much fun to let it bother us. We put 120 miles on including a ride to the Farm where we ate lunch and a ride up to the Bald Mountain Summit sign. Broke trail all the way up that trail and was pushing snow up over the sled the whole way up.

Another foot on top of whats up there now will only add to the pristine conditions!

I use a very highly sophisticated, state of the art, cutting edge photographic device .. my friggin' cell phone !! yelrotflmao.gif I've tried to snap pictures with my wifes high end digital camera but every single time I've brought it the cold has sucked the life out of the batteries. I've never had a problem with my cell phone camera tho and it doesn't take a half bad picture either.

Mr Nadeau (and all) if you ever need a spot to park, your welcome here as long as there are not too many! Usually the clubhouse is plowed, but if your up this way and need to park, you are welcome here.

you gotta be shittin me i've had a camera phone a long time but never use it cause i thought they took shitty pic's guess i'l try it then figure out how to get em on computer later.

Mr. Nadeau, try keeping the camera in a pocket close to your body. Your body heat should keep the battery lasting.
Mr_Nadeau
Hey Scott .. thanks for the offer! Just didn't seem right to be parking in town .. LOL

Maineman .. go your phone manufactures website and look around. I'm sure they have some sort of FAQ section that will give instructions on taking media from your phone and putting it onto your computer. Hell .. give them a call even and have them walk you thru it. Post what brand your cell phone is and I'll throw some instructions up here for you also. Software and computers are my forte'.

I've also tried keeping the digital camera inside my suit where it would stay warm but it still always takes a shit on me as soon as it hits the cold air. Wifey used lithium rechargable batteries in it .. maybe those batteries just don't like the cold. Dunno

I usually keep the batteries in my pants pocket under my ski pants....keeping the camera in your jacket still gives it too much exposure to the wind/cold air. I bring a couple sets of batteries and keep swapping them out. Painful, but it works.

As far as camera recommendation...Canon makes great camera's....anything 4megapixels or better. I've also got a Nikon but that doesn't seem to take good 'snow' pictures. Make sure you find a camera that has multiple settings so you can tinker and find the ones that take the best pictures.

If I don't turn my phone off in that area; searching for signal / analog signal seems to drain the battery fast.
Just what works for me.
Nice pics and good report

Yeah .. one of the very rare places that I've been able to get a signal is at the top of the "scenic outlook" spots just after leaving Piston Farms. I don't even bother trying to call anybody when I'm out there .. jst snap pictures with the cell phone camera.

This one was from yesterday with the phone camera also. It's all I ever use:

Ditch the rechargeable batteries and go with straight lithium. I use them in my GPS that is mounted to my bars and they last way longer than regular batteries. Looked like a great day. Were you guys riding to the summit of Bald or just up to the hiking trail?
Big Sledda
Drove up the trail till a big tree got in the way. Till then it was awesome going.
maine800
looks like great riding I cant wait to get up there myself!
Mr_Nadeau
Next time I'm bringing a small hand saw to remove that friggin' tree thats blocking the trail. We broke trail all the way up and it was pure powder just pushing up over the hood. Good stuff!

The above picture was taken on the trail that has 3 big rocks right at the entrance to it on the Bald Mountain trail saturday. We took a right when we came to the Y and started climbing. We climbed as far as we could untill a tree blocked any further progress. The picture was taken right where we couldn't climb any higher. The sign has an arrow pointing to the left towards what looks like an overgrown hiking trail that isn't accessable by a sled.

Question: If that tree wasn't across the trail and were able to keep going up .. where would I pop out at?

Three of us left out of Jackman on SAT. as well, thought the rideing was great, made our way to Pitston Farm and then on to Kokajo, hit alot of the old logging roads on the way, ended up with 220 miles for the day, can not remember the last time I rode in Dec.great times, Plan on riding up there this Sunday, if you see the Black X-fire with green Simmons ski's say Hi.
