what are some causes of a PTO side to fail?

My 2001 zr 600 efi failed on the pto bank and not sure what may of caused it.

Head gaskets looked good. Bearings are good on the rod.

Any ideas? sled has 4300 miles.

Yes looks somewhat familiar. But I cannot figure out what caused the burn down on the PTO side.

Looks exactly like a 700 Firecat I rebuilt for a friend last season, overheated, If I took a picture of it you'd think I photoshopped yours.

That is funny, I just blew up today also. 54miles on brand new rebuild. I have the 711 kit on my '00 600 efi. Just a thought I was going down a road today and the trail took a sharp left, so I hit the brake pretty good and it blew up right now. Do you think I was running it hot buy going down that straight of way????

carb and 310mains(stock is 330)

I gather mine is black because I was support the Saudi Kingdom as my oil consumption was unreal last year

I was only going about 20 mph when it burned down. Although the day before I rode a bit hard.

I just did a complete rebuild with wiseco pistons and shaved the head .012 and have 145 lbs compression cold.

yes I am...running 93. Sleed seems to run good. Just need some clutch work. I think i'm going to replace the 9 tower with a 6 tower. I'm always replacing the bushings in the weights.
