What is the belt deflection for a 1992 580 XLT. What is the gap where the belt sits up between the primary clutch? I forget the name of that?
Deflection is between 1.125"-1.250"
"Belt side clearance" on most polarises is between .015"-.020" in most cases

Make sure you have the correct belt and a new one at that before you shim the primary for those clearances
How do you re shimm?
