i got my sled which is a 02 xc edge x 800 and the airbox is gutted . do i need the peices that are supposed to go into the airbox or no?

Gutting the air box makes it run richer, about 2 sizes. Less vaccuum in air box when gutted, causes more fuel flow through jets, when carb is vented to air box. I'd leave it and tune it as needed, lots of previous posts on that air box, and problems with stock box leaking and running rich, and jettiing advise on gutted box. Do a search on it?
