Hey Everyone,
My son & I are going up to the cabin at the south end of Mille Lacs Lake this weekend for our first snowmobile outing of the season. How are the trails in that area and which way would be the best to go to get to/stay on good trails?
Thanks!

Go east and north.
Soo Line is very smooth.
The Red Top is in very good shape, all is groomed including the swamps, but they could use a little more snow.
There is about a foot of snow in Isle, up towards Lowrey and Kettle River they have about 18" to 20" on the ground
As always the local club, the "Drift Skippers " have done a great job of grooming!
Hard to beleive its mid-december.

Just got back from that area. Drove up yesterday morning, stayed at the Casino Hotel, and left from there. Took the trail south, south west towards hillman, Harding area.
Went through Kathio State park, trails were so so, looks to not have been ridden much, but was groomed and ready and waiting for more snow. The swamps/grassy low land areas were a little rough and definately need snow but there were no "really" bad areas, but to make it 100% it needs a good 8 - 12".
We also headed north, north west from the casino towards Garrison area and the trails that way from the Casino were "epic" well groomed with good soft fluffy stuff still to make it one of the smoothest rides i've seen in a long time. It was just great.
And as always the soo line from Onamia east past isle and into red top was great as well.

Hey Josh,
Thanks for the reply!
We went up over the weekend and found exactly what you noted except we didn't get up toward Garrison. Now I wish we did.
You are right 8-12" would make the trails awesome. Too much snirt for my preference.
Keep on praying for snow!!!
Thanks again!
