Has anyone had any experence with PSI trail motors. My sled was having a teardown just because, and the pto crankshaft bearings were shot, just about 2500 miles since the last new crank and cases.I think PSI makes a polaris based engine that should bolt right in?Anyone do this?Whats the reliability of PSI's genesis trail motors?I saw a used 890 not that long ago...maybe bite the bullet and drop the 8K for a new engine.

890 was Pos the only good polaris based one was the 990 I hard them all from them the cranks would break off in the clutch Have hanson racing do a crank for you and get an engine tech 900 top end and have some one fit a modified Y pipe and any ones pipe for 165 honest HP then mod the air intake system

YUP!,It rides better than anything out there and an xp is definitely too small and cold to seriously consider as a new sled,a jag fits me good physically but I could never bring myself to buy a cat.Just get rid of that junk polaris 800 and go for the psi(about200hp) it would probably not be any or much more expensive than retrofiting to a new 700 or 800cfi polaris motor.I want something in there that gives me the confidence to ride solo long distance like I used to do.2500 miles is only half a season on a good year, that 800 liberty motor has destroyed my confidence, every ride seems to be a crapshoot.Although the polaris engine keeps the sled americian built I think the PSI's are also made in the U.S.A?Reliabilty anyone?

Ok maybe not the 890 but something else,I have always wondered if an 600sdi would fit without frame modifications,I dont want to modify the frame.
1wx type t
700 liberty hp is close no crank problems.Rich

The motor is not going to be the problem fitting I had an SRX motor sitting in mine to see if it would fit then I realized the pipes will not go in now a 600 ves with a hiper turbo would be way cool!!!!!!!!

Just, drop a newer domestic 700 with PERC in there with a little work done to it and you'll be much happier. If I was going to drop a different motor in there I would look at a cat F7 or MachZ 1000 motor.

I guess I will look fo a 700,good thing thats whats in the 1wx.I havent heard of a lot of problems with the 700 and it will be an easy refit, anyone wreck their cfi powered sled and want to part out let me know.I am dropping in a new crank into the 800 for now and start preparing for the next time!
Top Gun
DO NOT make the mistake of buying from PSI.

Go search the general snowmobile forum for what people think of Bruce and his shitty customer service/piss poor products.

don't know if someone bought it yet but there was just a brand new motor out of a 07 700 dragon listed on ebay last week. You might want to check that out! I just added PERC to the wifes Striker and will soon be adding electric start...

I cant believe that 800 eats cranks like that, I have an 02 1wx 700 and it runs great at 3500 miles with no problems ever. maybe you'll find a 700 and you can use the 800 for a boat anchor. Also the 700 gets great fuel milage.

That short block was NEVER designed for a 800 , this is from Randy Karpik !!! Redo the crank and get a700 top end . Sell the 800 cylinders ,head, piston ebay. You will a happy Blade owner again. ylsuper.gif

If you are serious about a high horse motor with no crank problems, call Indy dan and Indy Specialties in MN and get one of his tourquer bottom ends and send it out to Carl's and have them do their 910 kit. One of the most reliable and tuneable big bores i have seen.

if you think polaris is junk you havent played with a psi engine.
