I just changed my exhaust manifold gaskets on my ultra. Should i have used a heat silicone or should they seal on thier own?

Depends on the gasket material used.

They will seal properly if the gasket surfaces on the cylinders and manifold were clean and grease free when you installed them. There was no sealer sealer on the exhaust gaskets when the engine was new.

I can help you out on this ?
I always use heat silicone on my exhaust gaskets, front and back. And make sure to use a thin layer on new gaskets, thicker on reused ones. Always side more is better, to much will just blow out the rear can anyway.
Just remember to retorx your bolts after your ran it for 1 hot hr.
