I've got a "98 ZRT600 with a broken crankshaft, so I'm looking to buy a used motor for it. Anyone know what other years are interchangeable (basic engine--pipes, carbs, etc. are no big deal). Also, what about a ZRT 800 or 1000 motor?

Thanks,

Yes Newf is right. If you get a 2001 or 2002 ZRT 600 engine make sure you get all electronics with it to control the power valves. And I agree that any year from 1995 to 2000 will drop right in. 2001 and 2002 may be a bit of a hassle becuase of the power valves. Hope this helps.!! You may just have to put your mounting plate on the engine you buy. There is alot of stuff on e-bay. Did you check there yet??? I did see a complete engine a few weeks ago I think. Maybe there is another one! You can also get a rebuild crank for around $750.00 Canadian. I just got one for my brothers '96 ZRT 600. If the rest of the case and pistons are good just replace the crankshaft!! Good Luck!! Rammer!

I got a zrt 600 motor out of a 96 ran awesome till a tree jumped in front the guy riding it Wow1.gif I'll sell it to you for the same price as a rebuilt crank. just drop in and go. Or if you really want to drop in and GO I might let my resleeved ZRT 700 with wiseco's go for the right price.
Regardless of wether or not you buy my engine, I'd stay away from the power valve zrt motors, they aren't worth the hassle at all. Also unless you're really into playing with your motors I wouldn't bother with a rebuilt crank, still alot of work to tear down and rebuild your old motor. How many miles were on your motor when the crank went? I've never even heard of crank problems with these motors and I know easily 15 people who own or have owned them.

Thanks, Vintage. I'll let you know if I need your motor. I've got a line on one right now, but if it doesn't work out, I'll give you a shout.

Mine had just shy of 4000 miles on it, it snapped the main pin (!) between the center & pto crank throws. I can't figure it out. The only thing I can think of is, when I took it apart, I noticed all the rubber tips on the Delta reeds were gone. Maybe a hunk got sucked in just right and wedged in there? dunno.gif Doesn't seem likely, tho. Bearings all seem fine (except for the one that was on the broken pin), so I dont think it was an oil problem.
