Full Version: Gas to Oil mixture ratio for 340 Merc T/T

My Merc 340 T/T has pretty much a completely rebuilt motor. While the crank bearings were OK, just about everything else has been replaced. So, now I am wondering what Oil to Gas ratio I should be using ? I have read that I should start out with about a 20:1 ratio and then end up using a 40:1 or 50:1 as a final run ratio. Or considering that the bearings were not replaced, should I go right to the 40:1 or 50:1 ratio.

Also, for a lubricant I had planned on running KLOTZ TechniPlate Snowmobile TC-W3 Synthetic Lubricant

Any suggestions from you guys in the know would be appreciated.

I just had my 75 340 Twister fully rebuilt, and my mechanic gave me strict instructions. (He did me a HUGE favour on this project!) bowdown.gif THANKS CRAIG!!!!

I was told to run 20:1 for a break-in with "real" oil, not synthetic so the rings would seat properly.

After that, I am to run 30:1 for a bit with a quality synthetic oil, and following that, I am "allowed" to run 100:1 AMSOIL SABER if I want to run like the pro's. smiley-faces7.gif

I hope this is helpful.
