I'd say mostly mountain riding. There are some groomed trails here, but most people that ride them, use them to get to the mountains.

We definately ride more mountains than groomed trails. But thats not all we have up here. Alot of miles are put on the many rivers here. Some of the major ones turn into basically highways for sleds. For alot of AK its the easiest time to get supplies into their cabins and villages that arent accessible by road. We also do alot of swamp riding too since its nice and clear and the powder is good. As far as groomed trails we have only a tiny amount, since this state is so huge. Its not like areas in the lower 48.

I've heard of groomed trails and I think I've been on one once after it had been beat for a week.
Snowmans, right most of us use trails no more than we have too.
A large part of the state has no road access and snowmachines become the primary transportation.
I'm one of the freaks that rides a aggresive powder oriented short track, balls out having fun climbing, sidehilling, & jumping.

I hear Petersville is starting to groom the trail to the roadhouse. I road on it once, it was fun, but I'd rather be in the fluff. In my opinion a groomed trail to a snowmicine is like putting an atv on a bike path, whats the point. Other than to go fast. That gets old really fast if you ask me.

I avoid that road at all costs, infact you only have to go down it a few miles even if you go all the way back to the hills if you know where to go.
