75 miles on today between oxford - sutherlands lake - folly mtn - westchester, conditions were really good for the most part on route 6, lots of snow in sutherlands lake area (~1 1/2'), but this area did not have groomer out so, we did a lot of trail breaking. as the day warmed up, snow got very packy and machines did not cut through as far. Tomorrow should be awsome.

Put about 100 klicks on around MacKenzie Settlement, Polson Mtn,and Gully Lake area. Lots of snow and very few machines.
Other than being a little slippery, it's good to go. Did run into a couple wet spots that were easily passable. Some of the side
trails need some cleaning up on the East side of the Kemptown Rd. A few of us headin out today to check more areas.Take a
small bucksaw and hatchet and enjoy.

The groomer without the drag was out to "tramp" the 104 from Folly lake to Three Corners. There were too many wet spots to try and take the drag through.
Hope this allow the trail to setup and we can get the groomer and drag out mid week next week.

Cumberland groomer is supposed to be out today, going up the hill from the clubhouse. Trails from Collingwood to Springhill have seen traffic, but there are a few wet holes, and they're rough yet. Things need to freeze up yet in that direction, and more snow would be good. There is a washout on the railine towards Southampton, it is well marked so watch out for the big signs in the middle of the road there. Still lots of brush & trees to cut in places.

Travelled from Oxford out the rail line to Conns Mills, through the Jersey Road to Atkinson Siding. These had all been panned by the groomer and were in good shape. We then went over Scotch Hill through the Bliss Plain (made the first track) and back to the tunnel. Route Six Groomed to the top of the Slip Road from Atkinson Siding. Trails over all were pretty good, we hit very few rocks.
Stopped for a couple of minutes at Atkinson Siding.

Launched at the Porter Road and headed west on the 551. Detoured down around the Maple Sugar Camp and back on the 551 to the Dalhousie Mt. club warming hut. Left the hut on the 104 to the Earltown road. Conditions excellent for a first ride and will be perfect with the next snowfall. Very few clickers, good base down and only the odd Brook not frozen. Went down to Earltown and came back on the Berigan Rd. It was plowed all the way through

and someone thought it was to be plowed all winter. Someone had been out ahead of us and cleared the deadfall on all the trails we rode.

Thanks much!!! The itch has officially been scratched.

Put on over 100 kms thru the game sanctuary on Saturday. Trail conditions were very good, just a spot or two of water but that's it - flat and fresh. Trailered to the clubhouse in Southampton and ran to Parrsboro and back. Saw 7 sleds all afternoon, only a few tracks and sometimes we were breaking the trail. Approx. 18 - 20" of snow and packed very well. Temps have now dropped (-14) so it should only get better. If only there was a gas station down that way somewhere...

Unloaded near Folly Lake Headed towards Clear lake, Nutby, and over to the North Shore Club.
The trails near the Fundy club were mixed. Saw the Fundy Groomer out. Some of the trails were excellent. Keep up the good work Fundy!!!!!
The 104 was under construction 10 miles before you get to the NSSC. There was an excavator in there doing some bush cutting for the North Shore club. Talked to one of the members. He said to go out the cottage road to the clubhouse and loop back to the 104. They hope to get the grromer out soon. Tried to get to Nutby Mountain Look off but some of the roads were plowed. Saw three sleds all day.
Put on 100 miles. Drove a new FX Nytro and an Apex Mountain SLed. I liked the Nytro as I could ride it like my REV. I would need some more seat time in the FX Nytro, and maybe try one w/o the Fox Float shocks. I found them stiff and rough under "Normal driving".
It will be busy up there on the weekend. !!!!
Il post some pics.

Just got back from Sutherlands Lake and it was good.Still not on the lake though. Little to early for that for this guy. Went towards Folly and the road is plowed. Trails were very good to good. Went up to the toll booth and back around to the clubhouse. About 30 miles. Rod was fueling up the Groomer and it was headed out. Clubhouse was open for business. Great start to the year. Imagine, sledding in Nova Scotia in mid December....who'd a thunk it.

Left from Roslin went up through Jersey and stopped at the tunnel. A beautiful sunny day. What else can you say it's the 15th of December, its not even winter yet. We had a few HCS members on the trip: MACDAV, Lawrence05, stretch, diggerdeep, rporteous, and Andyman came down from New Brunswick to ride with us today
The Tunnel
Click to view attachmentWent from there up to the Sutherland Clubhouse. Had a coffee, the kitchen was open. Lots of sleds out side there. Sutherlands had a big sign up saying "No Pass, No Gas" I hope they enforce that.

Click to view attachmentTraveled over to Collingwood via Castleray, the Cumberland Clubhouse was not open. Left from there went back toward the tunnel via Fountian Lake.
We ended up at Big Al's for a snack around 3:30. The bartender said they were very happy to see the snow, and the business it brought.
Big Al's in Tatamagouche
Click to view attachmentTraveled in Route Six, Sutherlands, Cumberland, and Dalhousie club areas. All areas have most of their signs in place and have been grooming. We met alot of sleds today more than I have seen in several years, if they all buy passes it will be a great year for the clubs. We are about one foot (snow) away from having incredible conditions. Everyone has a great base, but we need one more storm to make it perfect. Lets hope Monday's weather does not hurt us too bad.

Only a few inches for the most part, it did drift alittle in places so you might have an extra bit here and there but for the most part we now have just acouple more inches then before the storm and the snow is heavy from the rain.

Csmith and I went out for a little rip leaving from Stevens Road near the Fundy Club. I had some work to do out in the Truro area and went out for a late run in the afternoon.
Put on about 70 miles. Mainly the 104, but folloowed the groomer around all day. I have been up there twice this year and every time I have seen the groomer TWICE in the same day. These guys are awesome. Trails were unreal. Did not see a sled all afternoon.
Thank you to the Fundy Snowmobile Club for their excellent trails and wicked grooming!!!!!!
The groomer operators said its great grooming and the trails are setting up nicley. They have been out for over a week now.
Look at the pics!!!!!

Look at the freshly groomed trail!!!!

I think this was the 309 behind Hart Lake.

Thes guys are top notch. The boyz said the groomer is a 1997 and "she is getting pretty beat."
I laughed and said it look brand new!!!!!

What an awesome afternoon.

Left Scotsburn and went west to Sutherland's Lake. Traveled mostly the 104 with a few side trails here and there. Conditions table top flat groomed on the Dalhousie Mt. trails, a little bumpy (not complaining) through the North Shore trails (I think the groomer is up and running) and crystal through Folley to Sutherlands. Came back at light speed on the Jersey Rd. and the tracks to Scotsburn. Over 170 miles and never hit a bad bump. As good as it gets!!

Left from Roslin went up through Jersey to the tunnel. Thanks to Sutherlands Lake for grooming this section while our groomer is down for repairs, great job guys!! Turned at the tunnel and went by Fountian Lake past Silica Lake to the Big road in Bass River. Went up the Big road through the Black Brook trail to the Cumberland Clubhouse. Then up the Sherman Brook trail to Springhill. All these trails were groomed to perfection, the last 2-3 miles into the Lamp Cabin was a little rough. Then traveled across the TCH and back to Oxford. Another great day sledding in Zone 2.
First day on the new 600 SDI. WOW what a beautiful machine. Hard to believe how good it is on gas!

This trail is through some very rough terrain and needs some work, plus the area is very wet.
No the road was not plowed past the top of the hill from the #4 and there was lots of fresh snow down

From Dalhousie MTN website: Left from Saltsprings, got lost, did some road running and made it back to the tower rd. and up the 555 to the 551 to the warming hut. Then out the 104 to the Earltown turn, out to Earltown, up the Bergeron Rd, back to the 551 then took 104 east back to Mt Thom amd the 556 back to Saltsprings. Great going, saw 5 other sleds. Lots of fresh snow and not rough. A few slight water holes here and there but nothing major. The Bergeron Rd was plowed but it was good road running. With more snow coming it will only get better. I have no report on DMSC grooming at this time. The other groomer had come from the Nutby area to the Earltown turn.
