Anyone know if they are still plowing the road from Pattersons Dam to Farm Lake??????

Thanks

It was not plowed on 01Jan08 and had not been plowed for several days. Sorry but cannot find out if it has been plowed since the 1st.

January 3rd:
Left from where the 104 trail crosses the #4 highway 2 miles before Folly Lake (on the Truro side).
Drove the 104 to Sutherlands Lake. The logging road was only plowed up to the tower. The groomer has beat down the snow banks to the gate and groomed 2 wide all the way to Sutherlands. I was the first sled on it today. Excellent going. When I came back I went over towards the Fundy Clubhouse. Fresh powder and lots of it. Only put about 50-60 miles on because I had to meet with some dealers.
Looks like the Sutherlands Lake groomer has been busy. Thank You.

Excellent going, but take warm clothes.

I meant "tower" NOT "GATE".... Sorry

It's getting harder to get fuel each year with gas stations closing. No gas now in River Hebert, there still is in Advocate but they're just hanging in there. Can't get to it in Parrsboro, might be able to get some brought to you from the Glooscap. Gas was being sold at Cumberland clubhouse last weekend.
Cumberland groomer has been out, saw fresh tracks this morning in Springhill. Chignecto Glooscap groomer hit the trails towards the Sanctuary from the clubhouse at 9pm last night, haven't heard on progress. There is a ton of snow in the Sanctuary, already got more grooming hours than last 2 years combined I think. This weekend should be mint sledding everywhere, will likely be some trails to bust open.
Powder busting, woo hoo!!
scratcher
Antigonish trails system has lots of snow cover now as most do. Groomer is out and about. Hopefully the mild spell won't be too bad. We are having a Poker Rally on Jan 26, 2008 registration from 10-11am leaving from Keppoch Ski Hill. All welcome. CASH PRIZES!!!!
EA sports
Left Sutherlands and went over the cable bridge ( very rough) but after that....groomer all the way to springhill and out to Amherst. Awesome day. Did not see very many riders. Maybe 10 or so. Temperature was great, trails were great, machines worked great....guess that means it was a great day.

Yes they are still plowing but have reduced their area.

Not plowed from Patterson Dam to Debert turnoff (trail 320), plowing starts just past the Debert turnoff and goes to Johnson Lake turnoff.

The good news the have “winged back” the snow and we were able to travel on the bank for a good portion of the plowed area.

From Paterson Dam to Three Corners is not plowed and is now groomed.

Quick reminder - if anybody goes out, watch out for water holes. I was told that there's some big ones out there that weren't there before the melt down.
jaydaniels
I heard that there was still snow in the Sanctuary even before this latest bit. Anyone been out there lately?
ns503
I heard that too, second hand. I'll prolly hear more at the meeting tomorrow night.
mile_hi_snow_angel
I heard Wentworth got 30 cm. I am wondering about the conditions in the Economy/Collingwood area. Has anybody been out? Obviously, we're all trying to plan the weekend...

Today aroudn 4 couple of buddies and me left Oxford headed towards the warming hut groomed but a couple of open water holes nothing major. Got to the hut and decided we would take a tour down to the Ahoy Mate Pub. Trials were a bit rough with some water holes everynow and again. Got to the Pub great service because we were the only ones there. Got some free hats outta them and headed home. Trails was a little worse coming home with the water holes a bit bigger. Except for the water it was a fairly good run. Trail form Route Six Hut to the Ahoy Mate is passable with caution.

Fundy Trail Snowmobile Club;
There is a foot of new snow on Folly Mountain. smiley-faces7.gif
Our groomer was out all day yesterday (16th). Trails are in good shape with a few water holes.
Farm Lake Road and Belmont Road are plowed with active woods operations.
aburchell44
Went up late today and unloaded at the tower near Folly Lake. Travelled over to Sutrherlands Lake then over to Springhill. Just got back. we got stuck in the truck for a few hours!!
Lots of fresh snow. All groomers have been out. There are lots of washouts so be careful.
The boyz were out fixing up some holes between the Cumberland Clubhouse towards Springhill on the 104. Thank You. The groomer over there was going out around dark to do some final touches.
There is not as much snow towards Springhill, but enough to get around. Some of the roads were plowed, and the tops of hills wind swept.

Make sure you are registered and have a trail pass. We saw the DNR TWICE today.

Put on about 140-150 miles.

Great going!!!!

Sorry for the big pics.

Unloading at the tower near folly lake:

The SLTGA Hard at her!!!

The DNR were out burning a camp and checking us out!! We also got stopped near Springhill. Twice in one day.

A few shots on the 104 near the tunnel on the Cobequid Pass.

Any word on this yet? We were thinking on going down that way for the weekend.
jaydaniels
Well, I do know the groomer has been out in Parrsboro and would assume through the sanctuary. I did hear that the snow held up quite well after the last warm spell. I'm going out Saturday to give it a try.
IceMan Too
Went for a little run around Dalhousie Mt. Thursday Jan. 17. Unloaded at the Porter Road and went west on the 551 to the Warming Hut, then the 104 as far as the Earltown Road. The groomer has been out and flattened thing down but there is no more snow than there is in town. We doubled back and went west on the 551 toward Weatherbie's till we got to the Berrigan' Road which was plowed. Turned back East and played around the Maple Sugar Camp for a few miles. Several small washouts and clickers everywhere. More snow would be welcomed. Met a sled that left from Scotsburn and his report was similar, just barely enough snow. All in all not a bad ride but cool temps and more white stuff will definately help. Gotta love the weather man snow, rain, SNOW, SNOW, SNOW, SNOW, comin up. dance_2.gif

I put a post on here earlier and updated the DMSC website but noone has given me any info about the conditions on the mountain. I may venture out alone tomorrow for alittle run.
7cSki-dooracr
Just a little Warning on the jersey trail closest to the Atkinson Siding train tracks, big water hole. so be careful.
7cSki-dooracr
left oxford today around 4 went down the TCT to the route six hut. went to atkinson siding then over to sutherlands. trails were good with a couple water holes nothing major. Way home ran into some problems but nothing to do with the trails..
ns503
Anybody going from Cumberland Club to Springhill, watch for water holes. I think the 104 all the way is best, if you go Cleveland Lake way, there's a rather bad looking one almost at the end. You can back track a couple hundred feet and hook up to the 104 via a short unmarked billy goat trail. Friggin beavers are running rampant in that area. There was a really bad one just after crossing the pavement in Leamington, but it's supposed to be fixed up with a culvert somewhat, at least to keep out of the water. Need more snow out that way to imporve trails. On the mountain, it's real good considering the weather of the last couple weeks. Friday's snow then short rain really helped.
smclelan
I would say from the look of the weather forecast tomorrow water holes will soon be a thing of the past.

I would say if your heading to new glasgow DMSC would be your best bet for a run, you could prob get on the rail bed at pictou and go but there is some trouble getting to the moutain....dont no what browns and antigonish trails are like .
Weiner127
I unloaded at Saltsprings today (NOT ADVISABLE) and ran the 565 to the 104 then right to the warming hut. Saw a few sleds and just a blizzard up there, probably close to1 ft of fresh poweder. Ran the 551 from there back to 552 to 555 and back to Saltsprings. Theres alot of new snow but also alot of water around sp be careful. I was told the 551 from Scotsburn was good today. I'd recommend unloading at the Porter Rd in Elmfield, good going from there or Scotsburn behind the dairy. The railbed from Scotsburn to Pictou was great yesterday so It'll be real good after this fresh stuff. Talked to someone that went to Nutby and with the exception of a cpl of bad wet spots he said it was good. Most of the running I did today there was no tracks.
Fundytrail
20jan08 Traveled from Debert to Three Corners, behind Hart Lake then picked up the 104 to Sutherlands Lake and back to Folly and returned to Debert for 86 miles. ALL trails were in great shape with the exception of a few water holes. Both Folly & Sutherlands had trails well groomed. Snowed all day and on the return trip it was snowing so hard at times it was hard to see the trail smiley-faces7.gif
Canadian_500SS
Good running up on Keppoch/Weavers & Browns/Egg yesterday.

Left from the clubhouse and did the loop, good running up through the trails lots of snow...a little icy down low but still good enough to go.

Pretty surprised only met 5 sleds.
IceMan Too
Left from Pictou yesterday Jan.22. The rail bed was groomed table top flat to Scotsburn, the 551 was good to the Porter Rd. (being groomed now) continued on the 551 to the 552 and took it to the Warmin Hut. Great goin. Took the 551 through to Weatherbies to the tracks. Yes the Berrigan Rd. is still plowed. As someone reported earlier the bridge is washed out as you approach (1/4 mile) the tracks. It's supposed to be repaired today??? Passable with extreme caution but not reccomended. Back to Pictou on the tracks, great going with a few small rough patches. Groomer supposed to be on the go today preparing the trails for the Poker Rally Saturday. Another 10 cm this morning should set things up nicely. Should be a great Rally. tongue.gif

Was out late this afternoon in the Nutby area. Unloaded off of the Jollytown Rd and headed over by the 411 to the 104. Went to the DMSC Warming Hut. Great spot.

Excellent conditions on top of the mountiain. The groomer was out today around 10:00 am.
Where the trails were not groomed it was a little scratchy in higher-wide open areas.

Only put on a few miles but it was great to get out. Saw a few deer and some beautiful hardwood sections.

Excellent area and great conditons where groomed.

Sorry I missed you Andrew. We were out today, 6 of us left Scotsburn went 551 to 599 for a change(that was fun) to the 104 to the warming hut, then we left and went the 551 to the railbed and then to Big Al's. The groomer was out and groomed from Scotsburn to the Earltown turn then back to the 104 east, not sure where it went after that but conditions are good. The bridge washout on the Dean Chapter Rd before the railbed is now passable thanks to a crew of Volunteers that were there today building a temp bridge for sleds. A big thanks goes out to those guys. They plan to fill the hole with snow with the groomer for the rally. The railbed is great as reported earlier. Our buddy James (on the ZR) took real sick in Tata and had to be taken by ambulance from the Ford dealer to the Tata Hospital, we all hope he's doing OK. Thanks to the EMS guys and the staff at the Ford dealer for there help and support.

I don't know about the 419 but leaving from Saltsprings isn't the best plan. You'd be better off unloading in Scotsburn or somewhere else.

Groomer out 24Jan08
Trails are in good shape for the weekend. It appears all plowing and hauling from Farm Lake and Patterson Dam / Three Corners should be completed by end of next week. SLED SAFE and have a great weekend.
smclelan
Oxford to the Warming Shack, up to Sutherlands Lake, under the 4 lane and back to the Tunnel all in good shape.

RX1_NS
any snow left around keppoch or brown's?

Conditions are very good Springhill to Sutherlands. No fresh grooming, but the fresh on top of hard pack is just what we needed.

Should be a good weekend to sled to the races!
