Dec 9th.
Unloaded from Trunk 12 on the Kentville side of New Ross (County Line) where the 101 goes accross the highway from the Mines Road to Salmontail Lake.
Conditions were excellent. Fresh 3-4 inches over night. Everything froze up well.
Had some of the best Virgin Side Road Trail breaking in the Valley ever. Some of the trials are impassable from .covered bows. I headed towards Lake Paul, and Coldbrook. I hooked up with some guys from Chester. I only had a few hours, but it was great.
Ill post some pics.
NOTE: On the way back to Trunk 12, I crossed the highway and headed down the Kimberley Clarke Road. This was plowed and scratchy, once I got to the Turn off to the Mines Road/Butler Road it was not plowed.
I hope you enjoy the update. Remeber to get those trail passes.

The 'Stanley Area' trails will soon be ready to go. All we need are signs and the groomer. Any new sledders to the area should be very careful, a lot of the logging roads are straight and fast then come to a sudden hard 90 degree turn. Signs will be up shortly after they come.

AVLRR Report Dec 12
Snowmobileing on the South Mtn is quite good for Dec. However the early HEAVY snow has pulled down a lot of bushes and wire burch across the trails. Grooming can't start until these get cut back. EVERYONE is encouraged to grab a saw and help clear the trails. Groomer Drivers can't be expected to cut their way through the trails. Here is some areas we found on Sunday. PLEASE HELP, Many hands will make light work.
# 4 from KS 29 to KS 27 is impassable
# 2 between KS 31 and KS 29 needs brushing
#101 between KS 34 and KS 31 is impassable
#101 bridge where Salmontail runs out has a large tree over head near KS 47, need an experienced crew on that one.
#101 (hooker trail) needs brushing between KS 33 and KS 25
I'm sure there is more.
Rail bed is passable but as I always say, why ride them anyway.

The Stanley area trails are excellent going. Ya don't really need a groomer. We're still waiting on signs and the groomer, we were told it was supposed to be ready today so it should be out really soon.

The groomer is coming up to Merlin's today. I don't think the drag will be down but, it'll be ready to go. Now all we need is a little more snow, it is still good going for the warm day, so get out there.

The Driftclimbers groomer in the Stanley area is on the go. It's staying close to base, the 3 Point hitch that raises the front of the drag is broke, but it does a good job. Some of the signs are up it's a work in progress. The groomer should be out full tilt as soon as it's fixed. Just remember that it can be out any time of day. I'm still learning trail numbers so I'll soon be able to get out a lot better info.

One of my dealers went up to New germany today and headed back. i will call tomorrow.
I spoke to Ellen Borden, from Borden in the Woods, and she said there were a few sleds in today. The got 3-4" last night and snowed most of today (flurries). She said the sledders said it was good. They even travelled over the plowed road (Trail number 30) which is being plowed because of loging.

I cannot comment on the conditions from Falmouth to Berwick, but we went out today and had a great run. Unloaded at North River Road. Took the 2 to the 101 then on to the 95 and 99. All were excelent, groomed and in table top condition. From the 99 we took the 3 and 3a to Berwick. Low snow conditions on alot of the 3, particularly through the fields. Very scratchy in places. Had lunch in Berwick and then headed over the rail bed (very good as well) to the 2 to go back to North River Road. The 2 from Berwick to the road is very bumpy. Lots of ruts but good snow cover. I would not suggest eating before hitting the 2.

Jan 31st Trails of the AVLRR and Crossburn on the South mtn are better than you might expect. In Fact SHHHH they are darn good, with both clubs grooming again today. Most trails around Lake Paul are very good, over to Armstrong etc. Some trails on the East Side of the Lake Paul Rd have also been done between Loon Lake and Salmontail. The #2 and #3 are ok but not groomed due to low snow. #22 south from Aylesford (railbed) up the South mtn past the Family Diner is groomed.
Rail bed is smooth with some ice. (slow down). #22 in the valley floor is icy and patchy. Trailer to the south mountain and ENJOY. It is my understanding the trail between the Hants Sno Dusters and AVLRR is not very good at this time.

Me and CatAttack440 left from the mines rd bridge yesterday around 5 and went right in to coldbrook! trails were really good besides a tree down on the #2 into waterville, and the signage should be better up the valley! all the ink is washed off the signs up there! we took a right at one intersection that said coldbrook with an arrow so we took it and it was a dead end!! we were going by memory!
Other then that the trails were almost perfect! another 115 miles of sledding in, and more to come i hope!

PM me if you can figure out were that sign was wrong. Can't do much about the tree. they fall when they decide to. We will take care of it Friday.
We would love you to join our club, as you can see we need more guys with markers to help out. ONE person used to do all of those grey signs. Got tired of people telling him they looked like hell.

I do the signs for our club. My 1 year being incharged. we did the whole 101 trail from the clubhouse right to the end of the curtis hatt and the #11 and back to the not so wingin bridge.
and if someone says to me that they don't like the signs and i know they never helped our me or people who helped me do signs then i'll just say if u don't like them then u should of helped out.
i see your point tho north star, that would get tiring after a while!!

The diesel bombi was out somewhere in falmouth, i think it went to the mines rd bridge through the golden glow trail. The big Groomer was going out yesterday and going through to the valley but we had some technical diffuclties(battery's stone cold dead) so as soon as its fixed the trails well be awesome,
But falmout to the valley has TONS of snow and is awesome for sleddin!!
