I AM PLANNINNG A TRIP TO FAIRBANKS TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN EARLY MARCH. IS THIS A GOOD TIME AND CAN YOU RENT SOME SLEDS UP THERE? WHATS ELSE IS GOING ON? beer_cheers.gif

March should be a fine time to see the lights but check on the web for an Aurora forcast. I'm not sure how far they go out but they do come in handy.
As far as sled rentals there were a couple around here but I'm not sure which ones are still operating. Some gave guided tours or just rented the sleds.
P.M. me if you need more info, I'll be glad to help.

Push your trip back to the 9th of April. The Arctic Man is like to final Hoorah!!! For an Alaska winter. The Northern Lights are always Septacular when the weather is clear.

Alaska riding is always spectacular. You do not need to be in Fairbanks to see the light show. PM me and get you some great ideas and info. Also consider Iditarod time or Irondog time. These are just to name a few of the big events during an Alaska winter.

SirCahtcalot is right, He will give you some really good info, I went for a ride with him last year when I was in the area. Had a great time, The Artic man is on my list of things to do up there at some point. Sound like I will be headed up this summer for some fishing, I'll be looking you up!!!

I think Chena HotsSprings Resort offers some guided snowmachining. Probably not what you are looking for but at least a visit up there is a must if you are in the Fairbanks area. Chena Hot Springs March is a good time to ride in AK. By that time our temps are warming up, and we have plenty of daylight. Alaska Aurora Forecast As long as you get away from the city lights the aurora looks pretty good. Try to get up high so you can see 360 around you for the best northern lights look.

Ok a few more picture for 05Summit to remember his trip by. These pictures were taken the 29th of Feb. after a couple of good snows. The state has some great riding. If renting to ride, I do recommend a GPS and current Topo's. It is very easy to get turned around in a swamp and head off in the wrong direction. I would love to meet up and take you for a river ride. By March they have great snow and it's real easy to get away from the crowds but still have a nice place to stay at night. When the riding is good we get out to Rainy Pass on the Alaska Range and some of the most pristine mountain climbing and deep powder riding you can find, but that's at least a 2 to 3 day trip to be able to enjoy it.

05 Summit, you coming up to fish with me or that other guy????? frech11.gif uzi.gif gasthrower.gif TBlooma

I will try to fish w/ both of you, that way you can teach Tblooma how to get into the big ones, I'd love to try and set a new record on your boat, but the record is going to be hard to beat!!! I am going to miss not coming out this winter, but I think Tblooma is going to need some time to get use to his new family member. Next snowmobiling trip I make out that way i would love to try the two or three day trip to Rainy pass.
