Good morning this is Matt Murphy with the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center on Wednesday, December 5th at 8am. This notice will serve as a general backcountry avalanche advisory 5 days a week (Wednesday-Sunday) for the Turnagain Arm area, local variations always occur.
***UPDATE concerning motorized opening***12-5-07 1030 am
Turnagain Pass will open to motorized use on the West side of the Seward Highway from Bertha Creek north to the Forest Service boundary near Turnagain Arm. Johnson Pass, and all other areas designated for motorized use will remain closed.
