Anybody recommend a good software package? The Camcorder comes with Motion Picture Browser v2.0 . Not sure if there is something better out there or if this will be sufficient.

If you want a good editing software that is easy to use I would recommend Pinnacle Studio Plus. It allows you to cut scenes, move scenes, and it even has a green screen. This would let you place yourself in a picture even if you were not in the picture before hand. Only thing you have to remember is not to wear a green shirt... Back to the software though, it is neat because it lets you see the before/after of your video. This way you can decide if you like the changes that you have made or not.
