I recently rented a trailer to take my kids to the Grand Canyon and it was the best time! I was shocked how much the kids love it, they’re so used to vacations at our timeshare in St. Martin. We had a GPS and took all these back roads through Navajo country and we are so doing another road trip like it. But we rented a Ford RV, and as a Chevy guy, I am convinced there must be better makes out there in the 30’ variety. Please, lay it on me!

Whenever I see the word timeshare I cringe. I got screwed by one because the minute I got the deed, they jacked up the fee, nearly triple what I signed on at. I even paid $3000 to Timeshare Relief to get rid of it, and I didn’t bat an eye, that’s how worth it was to me to say bye-bye to it.
Anyway, I prefer Airstreams myself. Good community, too.

I work with 2 die hard bow tie guys that are proud owners of Ford V-10 powered motorhomes. They really shopped for a GM drivetrain and gave up, or gave in you could say.
It sounds like a great vacation. Our sons still talk about some of the most memorable vacations, mostly RV trips and Snowmobile trips. One boat trip down the Mississippi river for a week in a 17' boat ranks right up there too.
Good Luck in your search for an RV, do alot of shopping and ask alot of questions, salesmen won't stop talking until you've heard enough.

Our boys like camping too. I don't care for MH's too much, because you either have to have someone drive a second car, or tow it behing the MH, otherwise you're stuck in the campground. We had a 24ft Wilderness travel trailer, and it was good for how old it was. We just upgraded to a new Sundance 3300BHS(34ft) fifth wheel last summer, tons better that a travel trailer. Fifth wheels have more storage, tow better than a TT, and you get more liveable space, as far as I'm concerned. Our trailer has 2 slides, and the back end is partitioned off with 4 bunk beds. Queen bed up front, with a sleeper couch and the dinette that turns into a bed. If I really needed to, I could cram about 10 people in that trailer.
Heartland(who makes the Sundance, among others) has a now-patented front cap that negates the use of an expensive slider hitch when towing with a shortbox truck, one of the main reasons I went with the Sundance. You can jackknife the truck and trailer, and not smash the back of the cab. 88degrees truck to trailer angle, and I've tested it a couple times getting into tight campspaces that are perpendicular to the road. Sundance is the middle line, and they have 3 higher lines, and some lightweight Sundance models now, too. I tow it with a '06 F250 PSD crewcab shortbox, and it does it just fine. I opted for the B&W turnover hitch, with the 5th Wheel Companion, so when I take the hitch out, the bed is smooth, no rails in the way or getting beat up from hauling heavy cargo in the bed. And, I can hook up to a gooseneck trailer if I need to help out a buddy. The best thing to do would be to find out when an RV show is coming to your area, and go look at a LOT of different makes and models. Take a notebook and keep tabs on the stuff you like and don't like for each make/model. There's a million out there.....
