I have a four year old boxer, that if my wife would let me I would like to sell. We love the dog, but don't have the time for her anymore.

She is small for a boxer weighs in at 48 lbs approximately.
I have had her since she was 7 weeks.
She eats holistic chicken food from Eagle Pack, you can find it at any global pet foods / value pet.
She had a yest infection in her stomach caused by wheat based dog food. Cost around $38 every 3-4 weeks.

She is a very loyal and loving dog, she listens very well most of the time and aims to please. She is trained to ring a bell to go outside, which she hasn't had to do in a while as we kind of don't wait for her to tell us. She is housed trained and sleeps in a crate, unless she has been in it most of the day, then we will leave her out for the night.

As stated we are only getting rid of her as she requires to much time and I work long hours and my wife has 2 jobs and a child, so the dog is not getting the attention she deserves.

This is the only pic I have of her at work for know.

I am looking to see if someone is interested in giving her an excellent home. Then I will discuss with my wife, as we have argued about this for some time now.

Asking $550.00

I don't have to get rid of her, its kind of I want to for her sake. I tested the water lastnight with the wife again, and man did she blow a gasket. I have never seen her that pissed in our 10 yrs together. She even got our daughter into it by asking her if she wants to get rid of Sable. She looked at me and said no Daddy I love her. That really hurt since she is only 2. Than I was pissed at my wife for using our daughter as ammo against me. I think I'll leave it alone for a while.

Thanks for all the good comments. If any one is wondering about getting a boxer or not. I don't think I would ever get a differant breed. They are so playful , smart, loyal and funny as hell.

Smart & dumb at the same time. lol.gif They eat anything.

I agree with you, if the dog is not getting the attention & exercise it deserves then you should do the right thing. Here's your chance to get the wife to do all the work if she really want's to keep Sable. LOL!

That's exactly what I am thinking, she wants to keep her than she can walk her and feed and pickup moose_nuggets.gif after her. w-flag.gif

To get my wife really pissed I'll tell her it will do her some good to take the dog for a walk everyday. censored.gif

I have had two of these dogs over the years, and they are by far the best breed hands down. very smart, loyal, and great with kids & other pets. My male (fawn) is 5 and still has the energy of a puppy. I agree with you though that they do require a lot of attention. regular exercise is very important for them also. They are very affectionate and also great guard dogs. I'm sorry to hear about your situation and I hope that you can work it out. I know I wouldn't give up my boy for anything.. (well maybe a new apex anniversary edition lol.. ) NO I take that back. Anyway I hope you can keep her and everyone remains happy as I'm sure she is very attached to you and your family after 4 yrs.

Good Luck

Phyll,

Have you ever considered a dog walker? I have some friends that have a wonderful dog and they both work odd ours. Hes a factory shift worker and she's a nurse they have a dog walker/sitter come in once a day for $15/30 mins( walkies and treats and play time) it might be something for you to consider, and I know its a tough decision.

Bump for a great breed of dog. Mine is extremely smart and easy to train and the best dog I have ever seen around young kids.

Thanks guys

We have decided to give a better try at giving her the attention she deserves. My wife is now walking our daughter to daycare rather than drive and is taking the dog wit her, it might be a short walk, but it's a start. I have told her I'll take her over to the bush near my house on Sudady mornings for a little hike.

Don't get me worng I LOVE MY DOG. My wife reminded all the things I have done to keep her.

When I found her I drove all the way to Napanee in a snow storm. Left work on Friday night from Vaughan - drove to Barrie got my wife - drove to Napanee and got back home at 12:00pm and work that next day at 4:30am.

She broke her leg when she was about 6 months old. When the vet gave her some antiboitics - it wiped out all the good and bad bacteria in her stomach. Becasue we were feeding her pedigree puppy, which is a wheat based food, she got a yeast infection and broke out in bad rash - lost most of her hair on her stmach nad back legs - got this black tar oozing from these pimple like sores - the vet tried everything and we ended up givng her steroid injections once a week at $50 each for over a year just to keep the puss bubbles from returning.

One day I got fed up and did some research on the web, found out what was wrong and paid $35 for some good bacteria in powder and put it into her food, switched her food and voila fixed. My Vet asked me why I cancelled all her appointments. I told him he should get some updates on his degree and I would like to have some of the $3500 I spent in the last year with him back, He never called again.

Anyway what my wife reminded me of was I would deliver pizza once a week just cover her vet bill. I couldn't justify getting rid of a great dog or put her down for $50 a week.

Anyway we have decide to keep her.

Sorry about the long post.

You dont' happen to live in barrie and drive a durango, do you . There is a guy near my house that has boxer about the same size as Sable, A stranger could get the 2 of them mixed up, they are identical.

Why I ask is he has a Yamaha Viper too.

No dude sorry I live near Napanee but closer to Kingston. We don't have both dogs anymore trau14.gif Our female passed away 3 yrs ago when she was 9. It was a very sad time for us. But we still had our male to pull us through, and he has been awesome. Like I said I wouldn't trade him for anything. I'm so glad that you decided to keep her. The idea the other poster had about a dog walker is a great idea !! even hire a kid after school to take the dog to a park etc.. to get her exercise. My guy would chase a tennis ball all day if you would throw it for him lol.. They are amazing dogs and I'm happy that you decided to try and make it work. Good luck
