Just pulled the suspension out of the 1976 Merc 340 Trail Twister that I bought. And had a great big surprise. Found NO suspension coil springs in the front but found it did have a limiting strap. Now every reference that I have found shows the coil springs should be there, which they are not. And can find no reference to the limiting strap, which is there. Also what is found was that the slides were worn down to nothing in the rear.

This sled I am sure has been raced in the past. Whether it being an oval racer or a drag racer I do not know. What I am wondering is if any of you fellows out there have ever seen or heard of such a set up ? Already have talked to one person in the know and they can not figure why anybody would have this set up in a sled.

Any comments on this type of set up to figure out what was going on here would be greatly appreciated.

One thing I have decided is that I will NEVER buy another sled online, without viewing it !! And thats a fact !!
