Tech Tip # 10.

I hear this is very important, notice torque on the bolts is 42lbs. Much higher than the studs of years past.

For anyone who bought an IQ racer. This year or any other year. These Tips Pages are very important, you should check them every few days for the first month or so to stay on top of issues. All the big stuff is discussed right there. Polaris wants us to be successful with our new sleds, the least we could do is listen to what they have to say.

wow, isnt it usually only like 12-15 lbs? anybody hear anymore on martin melting these engines down? i talked to ben espo and cats have alot of issues to work out it sounds. the race dept has been working on updated spindles. simons and shubitzke have been snapping them clean off by the lower a-arm heim. also been having alot of problems with knees hitting the side pans which pushes them into the clutches pretty bad. also, i guess the seats like riding a horse back... not sure what they were thinking there.

28ftlbs was the torque on the stud nuts before.

Part of the reason for the higher torque is because they went away from studs in the case and went with bolts this year. The bolt takes a little more torque to attain the same clamping force.

I heard base gaskets were the issue with martins sleds. I hear Polaris is thinking maybe some of the motors may not have been properly torqued from the Motor Division. Makes sense, going from 28 to 42, maybe someone had a hard time reading the torque wrench monday morning. I am glad they are asking everyone to check. When I check mine on thursday I will report what I find.
