Has anybody pulled the clickers out of the ski shocks from the 01 X? I just recently changed oil in them and my clickers don't make any changes when i turn them. it looks like they will just screw out but I wanted to check for sure before I pull them apart again. Hopefully it is just some crud in there.

did you take the nob off last time and reassemble it wrong?

They can corode from moisture getting past the seals. The corosion will block the orfice and the shock will act like it's on the highest setting. You will have to take it apart and clean it.

i was hoping it was stuck on the lowest setting. the shocks really seem soft. do they just screw all the way out?

did you remove the compression heads when you serviced them?

not the first time. i pulled them apart again today and took out the compression head and cleaned it up. same thing when i reassembled it, no difference in the clicker settings. Any other things to look for JB?

does it have flat spots like there is air or just feel soft? Make sure that the valve stack is correct on the piston if there is no air. I am thinking maybe the rebound stack is on comp side and you have a first shim of 1.25 instead of 1.3. Or is the valve seated properly?

I cannot recall for sure. But I believe there is a small shaft that runs through the main shaft of the shock to the clicker on the shocks you are talking about. I had to disassemble the clickers and removed that small inner shaft. Cleaned it up with scotch brite and penitrating fluid to remove the rust. I added some dielectric grease to the clicker and the inner shaft. Worked well once it was all cleaned up. I would check the parts micro fiche and take a look at the pics so you can see what I am talking about. I think that was on the 03 shocks though. The 01's have the clickers on the res. if I remeber right and what I just told you will be no help.

it just feels soft and doesn't change when adjusting the clickers. this is just pushing it in by hand though. i'm not sure if that matters or not. the shock strokes smooth and it doesn't soound like there is any air. i never pulled the stack off. this is the first time that i've pulled the shocks apart since i had the sled so I have no idea if its stock or not. the collar that holds the clicker in went in all the way so i believe the valve is in properly.

If the shock does not have air in it run with it. If this shock does not have the updated compression heads then 1 they should be replaced and 2. the orifice is so small that moving the clicker will not change it much.

Thanks JB. I will have to check on the compression head. is there any way to tell them apart visually? I've asked Arvin also, but I haven't heard back. They sent me the updated valving so I may try that once we get some snow and i get my motor back in.
