I am currently running a 2004 Sport Touring. I have a question on the brakes and I'm hoping someone here might have some guidance.
Ever since I have had this sled when I let up on the throttle it feels like the brakes are grabbing automatically. It also sounds like it. It's not the chaincase here. If I let go of the throttle it feels like the sled brakes on it's own without me touching the brakes.
I have snapped a few shots of the brakes/pads/wheel. They seem awfully tight against the wheel. Should they be tight like this against the wheel? They are like this whether the sled is off or running. Any information is appreciated. Does this look normal?

The same thing happened to my wifes 01 xcf, with the phantom brakes.
one of your pistons are/is frozen, you have to pull it of-first use a C clamp to push the piston back in the boreand remove the caliper from the disc and pull the pads out and spay the pistons with wd-40 and put a board or something of the like on the piston and use the C clamp to push the piston in a little more than WIPE ALL OF THE WD-40 OFF OF THE CALIPER before installing it again with the pads and pump the bracks a few times to get them to contract the disc IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REMOVE ALL OF THR WD 40 SO IT DOESNT GET ON THE DISC OR THE PADS,AND FOR GODS SAKE MAKE SURE THAT THE PADS ARE TOUCHING THE DISC BEFORE YOU RIDE IT

So the pads SHOULD be touching the disc like they are?

I've got to agree with xctweeker here, sounds like the cylinder is sticking or is stuck but I noticed something between your pictures and xctweekers......look at the retainer pin above the pads on yours and then on xc's.........see how yours is pushed up against the pad???? That should not be against the pad at all as it causing constant pressure on your outside pad, which is very apparent from the distance or gap between the cylinder head and the back of the pad. that pad should be in contact with the cylinder.........try bending that retainer spring.
Good luck :beerchug:
