Can anyone tell me what a dealer or a aftermarket shop, or even any of you self employed sled mechanics would charge to: Pull a liquid cooled twin from the chassis, strip the motor down, send the crank out for inspection, then slap the motor back together and re-install in the sled. Obviously gaskets, coolant and any other parts would be extra. This would include going through the clutches, the carbs as well. Basically this is from a sled that didn't run in 2 years and as a precaution it was stripped down to be sure all was good. What would you guys charge? Thanks.

Anyone? Ballpark figure? Number of hours?

THIS IS ALL STRICTLY BALLPARK. If I had to do this to my own machine. I would say 1hr to pull the motor, 1hr to put back in, 1hr to pull crank, 1hr to put back together, 1hr to clean carbs, 1hr to pull apart clutches and clean and check. This is all give or take. Obviously you can check out a carb in less than 30 minutes, but this is taking your time and do it thoroughly taking jets out etc. But in the same since, it might take you a little longer to check out the clutches. So you are at 6 hours in labor right there. This is provided you do not run into problems such as broken motor mounts, bad clutch buttons, etc., plus you have all the correct tools for the job.
Just my .02 Please take it as such.

I charge $400 labor on most twins for the job you described. That includes straightening the crank if needed.

Actually I don't pull motors- it's ENGINES ONLY on the bench for me unless things get REAL slow. I don't have room here for all those chassis.
