I Drove 42 miles from my house to my cabin last night averaging 40-50 mph on the groomed trails and burnt 1/4 tank. I think this is pretty good considering when I got the sled I got 40 miles to a tank...

Just give that mother some gas. She'll drink all you give her. My 1999 ZR600 got about 7-8 miles per gallon. And yes it was properly jeted.

When I first read what you wrote I thought it was going to say 40 mile per gallon. Then I read it right and remebered a gas story that happened to my group. Three buddys and I all got new sleds that year. We go on a club ride but break off on our own to brake in the sleds got a couple poos a doo and my cat. Two miles in of our ride the DNR decides they dont like beavers and blows up their dam. The water washes out 10ft of the trail first bud on the poo dosnt even slow down goes through second on the doo panics brakes slides in up to the belly pan. Water is blasting out of those nassa ducts in the hood they had at that time. Since the motor never stopped it was funny but the skis were hung up and we had to get our hands wet to free it up we stopped laughing. We go on our way later on we switch up sleds I get the doo Typical doo smooth quiet but lacks the punch of my bigger rougher riding cat I dont give it much thought. We get back to the hotel doo goes to fill up with gas the poo guys and I head to the trailer to check the sleds over and make some adjustments. Next day we go with a bigger group 10 sleds all kinds of riding little off trail fast slow speeds top off the gas at lunch around 90 miles. Run some RR grades straight and fast for another 70 miles top off the tank. Head back to the the hotel its around 50 miles we go about 30 miles buddys doo quits hes pulling on it trying to start it. So we come back look it over open the hood check the plugs on the lean side but there clean. I know the doos have silver pipes, but to me the pipe looks white. Mess with it a bit pull the fuel lines off no gas decide to check the gas tank bone dry. We are puzzled for a few seconds then the doo buddy tells us he skipped the last gas stop and the one before that. Now my head is spinning and Im thinking impossible. He now tells us he wanted to go the whole day with out filling up hes got something around a 8 gallon tank. After we get through calling him every word for stupid in the book he tells us of the first day he filled up with gas. The first day we went around 90 miles when he filled up alone it took a little over 2 1/2 gallons even with the speedo error thats over 30+ miles to the gallon. So I change my impossible thinking and say no censored.gif I might have thought that when he went in the water it filled the gas tank but we hadnt driven very far and that wouldnt have accounted for the second day even though the miliage was twice what we were getting. We gave him some gas an made it back. When we could check it over good the vent line for the tank had ice and was making the engine work hard to suck the gas out. Now it comes back to me when I rode it that it felt slow. He got around another 500 miles out of the sled before she pooped but was one of the slowest and never got over 8 mpg sleds around

Thats almost 12 MPG. I'm calling you on that! Were you being towed?

I just got back from a 20 mile romp and I burned 1/4 myself. Clutched perfectly. TAN Plugs. Fingernail wash.

Im serious Joe. I did it again coming home...im not crankin on it just steady 40 mph......filled at the cabin....42 -45 miles, 1/4 of a tank............Why would I bullshit? I have no reason to bullshit about this......now, if I said my sled when 140 mph on radar.........then you could use the bs meter....

whent riding with my 99 zr 700 today put about 70 miles on it,started with full tank first fill put 9.00 bucks to fill back up after we were done put another 5.25 to fill,so 14.25 in gas and it's 176.9 a gallon here 12.4 miles to the gallon roughly but what gets me is i put in 3.00 dollars more than my friends 90 fazer with a i think it's a 488 fan cooled motor, but i have a sticker that says 310 jets i believe,at least i can make out the 31 and what looks like an 0, i rode the zr hard today temp was close to 30 degrees, last week when it was cold it was worse on gas,,,,anyway i can't complain,,just thought i would pass it on,, :celebrating:

Well dont know if I have a freak sled or what....but today, breaking the trail all the way and some playing around I got 80miles to a tank...we just had a fresh dump of over a foot of snow and we were averageing about 50 mph....pretty good....im pleased with how my sled is working right now.....

6 hours - 57 miles - 8 gallons

7 mpg.

Mind you we were pushing about 2 feet of snow in fields and I was riding ditches with 4 feet. Closest thing to powder riding you get in Saskatchewan.

Good thing I have her clutched well.
