Hey Yamadude,
The deadline is Dec. 15th. Here is a Link to our clubs website "membership form" page.
I hope this helps,

It would be nice if VAST would distribute the TMAs to the clubs pretty soon. We're a month away from the end of early registration, and nobody even has TMAs yet.

I hear the TMA will be ready end of this week (11/17) but that was of about two weeks ago.

I sent a question to the executive director of VAST. He got back to me within the hour. The following is directly from him
"We have had some difficulties with the printing process this year, but all of the forms and TMAs are in our office and they are being sent to the clubs this week and they will be available at your normal outlets by the end of this week, or no later than the first of next week.
The five-day pass does include liability insurance only and in the amounts necessary to meet the statutory requirements of the State of Vermont. It does not include fire, collision and/or comprehensive coverages."

Yesterday the woodford snobusters website indicated that TMAs are now available from them. Thank God they have this early registration thing... this is my first year buying 2 TMAs, so the money savings sure helps.

Not to be "Mr Negative" but I believe the early bird reg is the same price as last year. Believe the theory here was a penalty for buying late and to promote higher TMA sales which is a good thing.

That's true, had forgotten about the new catagories. I think it is a good idea for VAST and hopefully it will help to stabilize their buget.

FYI - In order to get the "Family Rate" discount on more than 2 sleds, all the sleds have to have the same name on the registration as either owner or co-owner.

Hello all;
Clubs should now have thier TMA decals and forms for purchase. We picked ours up Monday at the VAST office. The Cabot Skylighters have also posted the new forms, categories, and rate sheet.
Take a look!
VAST TMA Applications There are some interesting changes including the new 5-day pass that includes snowmobile insurance. The Family TMA's were a hot topic at the "TMA Class" a couple weeks ago; it is true that in order to qualify for a Family TMA package you must have all snowmoible registered to the same person or persons...it is my belief that few will fit into this category. I suggest people write to VAST with thier thoughts on the registration rule and ask for it to be changed to a "same address" rule.

I think vt is overpriced compared to their neighboring states. they should have tried to cut costs and improve their operating effiency to increase sales, not raise prices. plus they have that anti flatlander attitude, take our money then they want you to stay away. and if you complain you are bashing!

nh is just as good and way less cash, and no ins requirement. maine is less than nh too, ny is less, mass is less but less terrain... I'm against the attitude that we must take it or go somewhere else. I'd prefer to improve the situation with constructive criticism, and I do volunteer work to help out, not just "complain".

I ride ny, vt, nh when there is snow and I have the time. if you need insurance protection , you need to buy your own insurance, not rely on someone else who may not have it! just because they pass a law doesn't make the lawbreakers comply. plus they may not stop if they hit you, or if you try to sue them, they aren't worth anything, so you get nothing. unless you insure yourself. Again, I'm trying to have an intelligent dialog with people about a couple of subjects here, not bash...

If you think the price of a TMA is too high, try skiing. For what you get, it's still a great price. In today's society, insurance is a must. If we want to blame someone for price increase and insurance mandates, we need to look at ourselves. The consumer has demanded sleds that go faster, so we ride rockets on trails that were built for reasonable speeds. That's a recipe for disaster.
VAST is a private, non-profit organization. We're not state funded. The main income is the TMA. The legislature doesn't write a check for us. Unfortunately, we lose volunteers every year, so what used to be a "gift" is now an invoice. The snowmobiler that owns an excavator can no longer afford "free" time. Who pays? We do. There have been many discussions concerning where to cut back, and it would mean closing trails or reduced grooming. Neither are good answers. If you have constructive ideas for cost cutting, we would love to hear them. But calling us anti-flatlaners ain't gonna make too many ears bend your way. If you buy early, the price won't increase. Just remember it's the "theys" that are up all night grooming trails, and spending many weekends signing and maintaining trails so you can have a good riding experience. We welcome all non-residents, but you need to remember that we live here all year long. We do the work and deal with the problems. Nobody forces you to come here. That's your choice. Prices don't rise just to piss off non-residents. These are well researched decisions and voted on by volunteers that want the sport to survive.
And lastly, I didn't "bash" anyone. Just stated a few obvious facts.
Hope you travels are enjoyable, no matter where you go.
Thanks

I think vast needs to start pushing better member(customer) relations. The idea that flatlanders are rude, wealthy, and arogant people to get money from needs to end. I'm a truck driver that likes to get a dollars worth for a dollar spent, probally just like you. I wonder why residents should pay less and out of staters more? the state doesn't pay to help vast from taxes. that starts the idea that non residents are different from residents, they are not different. I don't have the time now but the idea that raising prices attracts new customers is wrong. to increase income to vast, they need to make customers feel that what they are getting is worth the amount asked(price). not simple but it must be done at the leadership level.

Jacksmith101,
I know that many out-of-staters think that we all just sit around and bash them but that is just not the case. Our club actually has a number of out-of-state members as well as a couple of out-of-state vermont landowners who are very gracious and we very much appreciate them. Many of our out-of-state members come up from Mass & Conn to help with events and trail work, attend our events, or just stop down town to visit with the community. On another note, the cost for many things is more expensive for out-of-staters...skiing, snowmobiling, hunting...etc etc., but that works both ways; if I decide to go to New York to hunt I pay more...that is just the way it goes. The increase in TMA costs was across the board, Resident and Non-Resident TMAs went up...this was due to increased operating costs and inflation...which is also typical for most recreational activities any of us will partake in. I appreciate your thoughts and hope that you will make Vermont one of your snowmobiling destinations this year...if you want a friendly place to ride come to Cabot!
