They should go back a little further than 2004. i had an older Polaris Indy that did the exact same thing, but cost me about $300.00 to fix.

Mines been leaking, but its an 03, so idk if they will fix it. Not that big of a deal, as long as you dont have a full tank. It only leaks when i have more than 3/4 of a tank.

As did my dad on his. Was riding in the yard the weekend and the cap and the threads that hold it came off in my hand. Keep an eye out on yours.

Man, you don't ride at night much or in Canada, huh? Every time I fill up I try and squeeze every last drop into the tank. Running out in the woods SUCKS!

Took mine out for a spin today.....leakin fuel everywhere. Called around and no one has one in stock. I have one lined up for Friday but I'll have to put in on myself if I want it done before my trip next week. Put some silicone around it, hope that works....I'll cary some duct tape in case!

Also to everyone waiting for the tanks to come in. Be very carefull when you put the cap back on. There is no need to tighten it much, You may break it off. Ever notice how tight they are when you take it off? They seem to get tight all on there own.

It could ruin a trip, but you can also melt the crack back together with a torch- first empty the tank and wash it out .

Torch on gas tank ?
Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Haven't done it - but how about heating up a putty knife with the torch and use that to melt the seam back together??
Better than lighting up the sky

A torch and a gas tank. LOL. I don't care how much you clean it that is a disaster waiting. I had some patches welded on a set of pipes that were rusting. Holy shit did they flame out. Scared the hell out'a me and my bud. I can only imagine a gas tank.

Go to a ski shop and get some p-tex. Melt some of that on the crack and it should seal up nice as a temporary fix.

Simple job on an '04... two nuts under the tunnel at the rear the exchanger... (the bolts go through the trunk area. Seat comes right off. Two nuts at the base of the tank (near where your knees are). Spring holding down the tank by the carbs.

Dropped my 04 Switch700 off at HK Hooksett last night for new tank (warrantee job). Developed neck seam leak at 8010 mi. while stored this past summer. Never got the 1st "upgrade" which aparently hasn't worked anyhoo. Was waiting to put on a few more miles before dropping off at dealer for other regular maintenance. Haven't used much last 2 seasons due to miserable conditions. Dealership has been excellent, as always. Only bummer is having to ride my 600 touring in the 3-4 feet of snow we've gotten this Fall!!! Winter starts today
