Guys, I'll be putting my sled back together in a week or so and I have a question about advancing the timing 1-2*. I've heard good things about this such as it is a free mod and easy to add power. Any drawbacks to advancing the timing?

I have a 800 twin with single pipe and can, boyeson rad valves, air horn/air box mods, stock porting and head, always run on 91 or 93. Would advancing the timing do anything for me? Thanks.

Have seen some dyno printouts run with timing at full advance (stator plate rotated 1/8" or to stops) on ported motors and responded well to this. With more than safe bsfc. Yeah, I know, dyno's don't run across a lake!

Had flannery do it a year after I went with my twins, worked great, I gained 200 rpm over the same setup. If you are running twins you are likely running to 8200rpm and poo cdi drops off after 8000, deretarding the timing is a must in this situation. If you are running a single mess around with it but do it incrementally to avoid deto.
