Full Version: HD (bull nose) primary clutch differences ??

I've been wondering lately if the HD primary clutch from a Fusion will mount on a xc 800 or any other carbed domestic twin. I know Polaris came out with a different clutch taper reamer for the CFI engines. I've heard the taper is 1 degree different. 31 vs 30 degress. Does any of this sound right ?

I'm posting this on the fusion forum too.

Not sure, I think taper is the same but the 755/900 is bigger in diameter...?

From what I've heard, they are not interchangeable. The old crank end is 28mm dia. ( cant remember exactly) and the new crank ends are 30mm dia. ( cant rememer exact size). I think they are the same dia. as the 800/900 cat pto.

If the taper is the same, it might still be usable. The clutch would just slide on the shaft more. I haven't personally tried one, but obviously if it's too much it wouldn't work since it might hit the engine itself. If it wasn't bad, you'd just have to shim in the secondary to match. I have a new hd clutch that might be off a fusion, but i never tryed it. I'll have to try to remember to check it out.

i have a 02 xc800sp in the shop now. i'm going to pop the primary clutch off and see once and for all if the fusion 900 HD is different or not. i'll report here when i find out.
