On my 06 440 with 07 liberty 600 shimmed 8mm in the rear, tm38mm carbs - do you think ill be able to use this airbox? can i just but the actual box and use the "horn" from the 440box? or do i even need the horn, cant i just drill a shitload of big holes in the box and put some prefilter there? what do you guys think? i dont wanna run kn-filters since the carbs are so hard to keep in place!

Just curious, why did you shim the rear 8mm?? do you have a 12mm spacer between the motor and straps?
The stock air box should work just fine even though your motor is shummed. You should use the horn though and the plenum in the cowling to get cold air right to the motor. You could drill the airbox out with lots of holes and use prefilter material but you will make more HP with the complete intake system from a stock sled.

to be honest wth you im not 100% about the 8mm, just tried to picture how sschimmed it is.. except for the rubberpiece i got one thick shim and a thinner.. probably 8-10mm thick totally. why shouldnt i run them? can i run the 600 h.o with clearing issues with out any extra shims?

the 600HO does not need any shims or spacers for proper allignment.
You can bolt the motor strait to the straps and drop the straps right on to the motor mounts with no shims or spacers. Some of my '06 sleds had a .090" washer on top of the motor mounts but most didn't. None of my '07's had that washer.

Okay, well the guy I bought my engine from told me to use these? How is that? Can it be because im running SLP-twins? Will they interfere with the chassis if the engine is not shimmed in the rear? Im really confused. Are there any flaws with running the engined shimmed in the rear??

I believe the confusion was from the guy who sold you the engine...from my research on the subject, shims are required when using the 600VES...NOT the 600HO. Sorry, can't help you with the SLP Twins...I don't know if that would affect your clearances or not.

Sounds like you have an '06 Factory Mod. It had 13mm spacers between the motor and straps and about 9mm shims between the straps and motor mounts. That spacing was used so the air filters would clear the jack shaft. The SLP Twins were fitted using that spacing. You don't absolutely have to use that spacing but since the Twins were fitted using that spacing it will all fit up properly if you keep the spacers. The AirBox could be used but it will be a little high ( 13mm) in the chassis and may hit the steering hoop or you may have a few problems getting it in and out.
Hope this helps.
